Speaking about the cars Mototechnique get to work on, I just thought I should lob this in for a typical day at the office.............. Image Unavailable, Please Login
And one for the weekend Kevin has been climbing again- once finished, this will be the money shot. or at least one of them. Image Unavailable, Please Login
To round it out is there a photo of Kevin hanging up there? With a build like this, eventually the cast become the stars too... We are the luck theatregoers.
Still some way off so not a current concern! First start tomorrow but that is only at idle and a very basic check. Fingers crossed.
Well we have ignition if not yet lift off. Have a very poor vid but too big to post here. Started almost on the button, three turns and immediately caught which bodes well. Running a little unevenly at present and set the fuel pressure at 4 bar for now but mazy need to be increased given the power we are looking for. This photo was taken whilst running and you can just see a tiny bit of smoke from the right bank. In terms of mapping, current aim was just to make sure the fuelling at idle is correct and both banks are running good lambda values. Now over to the mapper whilst we get on with our check making sure all hoses are tight and no fluids being lost. First impressions was a slight leak on one turbo but aside from that, which is easily sorted, seems like Colin has done a great job. Next up is trying to get a few revs on her later in the week. For some reason most F40s tend to produce more smoke from the right bank than from the left one...I've been explained many times the reason but as I'm no engineer I can't exactly remember why!
Just a few more snaps from start up day and hopefully more to report later in the week. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Simply stunning, but not feeling the love for that shiney catch tank and pipe above, I sort of think its needs to be more subtle, then again its not my car
Congratulations on this significant milestone (start up) ! Best wishes with rest of the tune- I will be watching for updates- and thanks again for sharing this journey with all of us.
I can see your reasoning but the hose above the tank just spoils the flowing lines of the superbly set out engine bay, if it entered the tank at the side by the exhaust and ran under the blow off valve crossmember back to the motor it would look so much better, and still provide a method of venting the combustion gases into the catch tank correctly. The tank seems just to shiny in comparison to everything else, if it was bead blasted a satin finish, or had a brushed effect it would not stand out so much, or clad in carbon kevlar like the fuel tanks. I hate to appear critical as that in no way my intention as this my most favourite F40 out there, and exactly how I would have one. As its a Michelotto inspired example you sort of have a bit off leeway to freestyle
