Out with the OLD and in the with the NEW! :)

Here are the new OMP seats I am planning to install in the F40. I just had them covered in red Alcantara (same as the Stradale). The seats are carbon fiber/kevlar and are about half the weight of the original seats (original seats in US cars have heavy motors attached to them). I am also planning to use a four point Sabelt harness system. I will follow with more pics once the seats are installed.

    Those are some sweet seats.

One of my best friend's cousin does alot of work for the DUB show cars. He is always booked for months but due to the relationship he manages to fit me in. He recovered both seats in one day for me. The original seats had the pull out flat pads and I wanted the more custom looking stitched box pattern.

Hey Elliott. My plans don't include any changes that will be permanent. All my changes will be reversible.

As you know I've already done the bypass pipes and the Tubi. Now I am working on the seats. In answer to someone else's question - yes - I am doing the seat installation myself. I had to modify the OMP brackets to fit the existing factory holes. Once the seats are done I am also changing the old style Momo steering wheel and replacing it with a black leather/alcantara Momo wheel.

The final two changes (which are still being considered) might be a carbon fiber LM rear wing and LM turbos. :)

I guess I am old school - I prefer the originals.

Looking forward to seeing the beast!

I love them. I've always wanted to go to euro race seats (but your seats are very nice) combined with a sabelt harness.

Your new OMP seats turned out very nice! From the picture they look more confining than the OEM Ferrari F40 seats. Interesting about the weight difference between the two types of seats. I prefer the stealth route - just turbos and brakes, no wing. Have you considered different wheels which bigger brakes would also seem to require? Thanks

Interesting, in the UK F40's have lightweight carbon/kevlar seats as standard. My 348 GT Competizione has the same sort of seats, they actually look very similar to your modified seats.

What model of OMP seats are they?

The weight difference is due to the motors attached to the factory seats. They were Ferrari's solution to the US seat belt laws at the time. Plus they are ugly as heck and look like they were an afterthought (which they were).

Bigger brakes would definately be a plus. I'm going to think about the wing, turbos, and brakes some more before making a final decision.

The US factory seats are also light weight carbon/kevlar seats, however, they are weighed down my a multitude of motorized US seatbelt assemblies which must weigh 10 pounds on each seat!

I believe they are the OMP ARS carbon seats.

I thought the original was the one on the right in the first photo? Is it not?

F40 Seats in the UK look similar to this (348 GTC seats) :

I dont mean to spoil anything but I did the same thing you did. I think they look way wicked!!! JUST BE CAREFUL!!! going in and out of the car will wear on the matirial on the sides and it will have a hole soon enough. I keep my car out of the sun always...hell Japan hardly has sun, and the seats fade still. Plan on a anual change of the top cloth and maybe the padding on the sides. Other then that, sweet setup!!!

Yes. The original one is the one on the right in the photo. What you cannot see are the motors attached to the sides. They weigh the seats down considerably.

The "euro" seats as shown in your photo are the more desirable seats since they did not have all the motors attached to them. Alot of US owners have bought euro seats and replaced the US seats. It also saves the US seats for resale (since we're nutty about things like that).

I agree with you 100% about the wear factor. I already know I will probably be reskinning them annually. Even the slightest sign of wear and tear will bother me. :)
