Copy that. Seen one, seen 'em all. Though maybe if/when they bail, it'll go to Japan where customers seem more inclined to humor the tricked-out stuff? Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
The LED lights just don`t look right to me, but that's small potatos. I'd put some modern projectors in similar shape to the originals, but otherwise the car certainly looks mean murdered out like that. I bet people get out of the way on the highway faster than if it was a cop car if they see that in their rear-view.
Understood but I reckon they would get more $'s if original ... and many F40s have been bent and fixed, that comes with the territory. Plus I don't know of many TV shows showing the rebuilding of an F40, no need to tart it up for the show. Anyway it can always be changed later by a future owner. Pete
If people think the 355 below could have been economically rebuilt back to standard then they are better engineers than me. Therefore it will get to live again as a car based on a 355. There was little wrong with that F40 which prevented it going back to how it was pre accident. Those louvres are shoddy looking. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Saw this on Instagram... Image Unavailable, Please Login Looks like a pic of the F40 when it was being worked on
I can understand if you dont like the louvres or the LEDs but I meant the rest of it: the rebuilt chassis, refabricated carbon, body panels, advanced suspension, remade wheels, paint, etc. they had to do something different. They did. You don't have to like it but they did not waste the opportunity to make a name for themselves.
I was so tied up with my car that I think I missed the Monkey Garage episode with the F40 so what happen can anyone fill me in ? I know that 400 K is chump change to Rawlins who net worth is reported to be a cool 10 million and I know his Buddy the Jeep Dealer there in Dallas has his right change but to drop 400 G at the drop of the hat with out doing any kind of research doesn't sound right ! They must of had advance notice of the car B 4 the show even started ,so did I miss out or is The Discovery Channel going to keep fans hanging on till next season please let me know .
I'd like to see some more pictures before I make my final decision. I'm on the fence about her at the moment
The car looks great. Love the car in Black. I do think the LED's are quite a unique touch...not sure how i feel about it though.
prefer they keep the originality but thats not too bad at least the F40 look is there i thought it would be some wild paint job with some stickers but looking at the photos didnt make me go ewwwww
wheels look very cheap, along with the LED's and the hideous louvres. They would've been better of fitting a (copy) LM bonnet and better looking wheels.
I think it's fine to customize the car - the damage history ruins its value if made back original, so they might be able to compensate for that by customizing it, at least for the right buyer. I am not a fan of the lights, and the louvers were probably dictated by the shape left by the removal of the pop-up headlamps. Eliminating the pop-up headlamps was clever. Saves weight and was cheaper and easier to do than trying to repair or replace the damaged parts. As for rebuilding the carbon fiber, did they really do that? I'd want to see the underside of the clams to see if there was repair or replacement and if the former, how they dealt with the carbon/kevlar weave. Has the episode that covers the repair aired? All I have seen is the snippet where the damaged car comes out of a trailer and there is a staged purchase (I am confident the negotiation happend well before the car came out of the trailer at Gas Monkey). I wonder how much it will bring? I hope plenty, but I am guessing about $600K is all the money. Then again, if people are willing to pop $400K for the Lays Potato Chip of Ferraris (458 spyder), it might go for way more. Way more impressive a vehicle than a 458 and cheaper to keep up, actually.
I agree. The episode didn't air yet and no date has been set per their Facebook page. I'm sure the purchase was staged, but I'm also sure they had an idea of what they were going to do with it when they bought it. IMO it turned out better than I expected. I think Dennis might keep the car for himself, but we'll see.
Fast N' Loud returns to Discovery on June 10th. No word if they'll lead-off the new season with the F40 episode, but my guess is they will.
I'm laughing at the anal "Ferrari Connoisseurs", PSk to be more specific, crying about it not being original. You want to be mad, be mad at the guys who take original F40's and change it up. Even then, it's their ****ing car, but I understand if you don't like somebody changing up a rare car like the F40, it makes original F40's even that much rarer and hard to find. But to take a wrecked one, and add a few modifications, Gas Monkey didn't do anything to **** with the market of this car. It was a wrecked, devalued car to begin with, what would be the point of restoring it to original? So it can blend in with the pristine ones? At least this one stands out and whoever has it can't hide the story behind it.
I'm looking forward to this as well. I hope that they detail (more than one episode) the build process.
Viewing party at the new Twin Peaks in North Irving / Las Colinas which I assume will be attended by the cast members. https://www.facebook.com/events/538335602890938/
