F40. I like the F50 as well but the F40 just does it for me. I like the rawness and no frills of the F40. Plus there is the ability to crank up the power with larger turbo's....

    >>>" got some numbers here :
    F50: 0-60 mph: 3.6 sec (road & track)
    1/4 mile: 12.1 @ 124.5 mph">>>

    F50: 0-60 mph: 3.7 secs. 202 mph top speed
Tourque is lacking, and the power to weight ratio of the F50 is worse than the F40 and the F40 is older. They should have gone further with it {not sure how} or they should have backed it off some. It's close to being a perfect car but you have to give up so much just to fall short of the "perfect" car in almost every field.

I respect the F50 as much as any Ferrari for it's numbers and styling. But it just doesn't capture a gold medal in any field, it's always 2nd, 3rd or 4th in every way. How can I get behind a car and say it's "the best" out there when it isn't? In it's defense, how many cars ever built can say they are in the top 4 of every field?

F40 takes it in a landslide. Only the educated votes were counted.

    F40-13
    F50-15
I might have screwed up on 1 or 2. and i counted Roalnd as F40 cause i think thats what he was going for.
Anyways F50 wins. I voted for the F40 though.

If were talking about speed and faster and better handling then I place my order in now for the New F*** for a 2012 pick up. Everyone knows that these cars are better as the models change. Enzo Ferrari said it himself, which is your favorite ferrari, and he said: I quote: "The one that has yet to come"

The F40 should get is proper respect over the F50 because it was the first car developed to make the F50 and Enzo possible. Also, it was made in the time of the boom car market in the 80's and that's why 1,300 cars got made.

The F50 only had 399 because in the 90's Ferrari could not sell a pound of sand. Does anyone here remeber the 348's sitting in the dealers showrooms?? They couldn't give them away at the time, the NSX eat our beloved marque. It was a time to regroup.

Hence, the F40 was by todays standards over produced, but still intended every bit to drive and ride like an F1 car. Its looks and performance braking excluded is more raw than the f50. If you go out clubbing on Sat nights with your b#@!s than take the top down and go with the f50.Just my .2cents

actually, there were only 349 f50's made (although I hear a few addition ones have eeked themselves out hence the infamous '96 f50 floating around for sale a few years ago) there are supposed to be 399 enzo's.

Arguably the car-economy from the late 90's and early 2000's is way better than the 80's.

Unmodified, the F40 is faster than an F50 in a straight line. However, on a road course, the F50's superior handling and better balancing will take the F40. More fun still would be in the rain where the turbo's of the F40 are bound to throw the driver into tire walls and the like while the F50's smoother (albeit not mercedes smooth, wink wink) torque curve will allow that power to be properly applied.

Lastly, in response to the comments from Top Gear with an F50 vs. F355, my interpretation was "i would be too tempted to drive and have too much fun in the f50 so i would need a car to slow me down like a 355"

Go clubbing wit your bitzes? are you serious? i guess if thats what you want a car for, honestly, get a diablo roadster, more crazy styling, topless, more comfortable if thats your thing...Id just wanna drive the F50, but Id be so scared with no traction help, 530 HP in THAT light a car is scary! Even Schuey made the threshold more user friendly on the enzo than originally intended, were not all pros;)

That is too mean Bostonmini! You cant make me decide! :)

I'd take both, but if I HAD to own just one, I'd take the F50, sell it, and buy an F40 and a 355 spyder! Then Id have a Ferrari convertible with the sound of an F1 car and looks to kill, and an F40 for the weekends!

All it takes is one drive in each to know it: f40 all the way. It's not the speed that you buy it for, it's the rawness. The only down side is that it's not the best to drive around town as it's pretty low. You need to have some well scouted routes.

Rawness-you are right about that Sherpa23...had the chance to ride in a f-chat members F-40 a couple of times and it screams Rawness-just killer. Everything about that car is what a Ferrari should always be...let's put it this way I will never forget the Tollway again!

    best regards,

Ever come close to a bowel movement in a car? I'm sure an F40 or F50 can make it happen! :)

Ive never ridden in an F50, but my dad used to own an F40 when I was younger, like 20, and it was a thrill of a lifetime. You talk to it and it screams back. All the carbon fibre and stampings-the rawness. The feeling of knowing your in what started it all. The thrill of changing lanes at 165MPH. Doing donuts out of quickie marts. Racing cops. The good ole F40 is up to the challenge. It is the Ferrari. Its the grandfather, speed may be increased these days, but it knows more. The Enzo and the F50 hold there ground, but the F40 doesnt. And thats why it will be the funnest and best of all time.

    F40 = Track Car

F50 = Freeway Cruiser @ 150MPH (Not track material in my opinion)

288GTO = Belongs in a Museum or Closed Track (I Hope I never see one on the road w/all the other crazy drivers on the road)

Enzo = Track & Freeway Cruiser
