Mike, you're right, its a motorized enzo, rechargeable, comes with 2 forward speeds, reverse, and a brake ! Its a euro company..I will have to get it off the car, I've forgotten the manufacturer. Got any more service pics on Wes' F40 ? I love surgery pics......
I just drove a 83 512 BBi just the other day. What a brute! I was talking to Harry about it on Saturday. The power-free steering didn't bother me, as the engine is in the back... but the clutch in that car is tough, and has about 1/2" of travel where it grabs. This isn't so "bad" except the spring on the throttle is nearly as tight, making it seem nearly an on-off switch.... and of course, that 512 has tons of low down torque. So I was a bit embarrassed when I first took off, and stalled... then overcompensated, and burned off some excess rubber. After driving for about 20 minutes, I was much better... what an experience A month ago, I drove a carburated 512 BB, That car had a much easier clutch, and the same kind of throttle travel, and response. After driving a number of Ferrari's.... that BBi makes me feel like I've traversed into have driven a "man's Ferrari" Sorry for the OT
Isaac, I haven't driven an injected boxer to compare, so I have never experienced that heavy clutch before. The F40 clutch is heavy though, so I'm sure its comparable. When you come down, try going from the F40 to the CGT clutch....the brain has to adjust very quickly !
Jas, what are your thoughts on the Scuderia ? The gt2 ? I love your choices of cars. All 4 are pure cars. No BS , just drivers cars. Congrats !
haha, yeah... that CGT, I'm told, you have to throw out everything you learn about a manual transmission operation... basically let off the clutch w/out any throttle, otherwise yous tall it... or if you give too much, you roast those tires! I look forward to making the trip to Southern OH to meet you.
Thanks Andrew, appreciate it coming from you. With regards to the GT2 and Scuderia, its the inevitable comparison right ? Whats not to like about the Scuderia ? Rapier performance, 60ms shifts, handling, sound...the total package. GT2, fastest 911 ever, 204mph, 0-60 3.6secs, launch control in a p car !!! While I'm not a racer, its hard not to ignore the fact that the GT2 is only marginally (1 sec) slower around the 'ring than the Carrera GT. In short, awesome performance. So, which to choose, GT2 or Scuderia ? Both are going to be priced high...I suspect optioned out, the Scud will be north of 300k easily. The GT2 is 191k base, so over 200 k optioned out. Which is the better buy at those prices ? Based on history, one would jump quickly and say the Scuderia (and I suspect that will still hold true), but the GT2 will not be the same financial pit that the 996GT2 turned out to be. For one thing, Porsche has learned its lesson, and is limiting production numbers significantly. I am told that less than 100 GT2's will be made available for the USA, and some say the number is 68 cars. Already, dire predictions of GT3 prices bottoming out are proving untrue, as numbers were limited and prices are holding firm. GT3RS's are fetching 60-80k over still. I was number one on my local dealer list for a GT2, and they did not even get a single allocation. I hope to acquire one through patience at the end of the production year at msrp....I refuse to pay over. Some dealers are already asking 60k over for the 997 GT2. I think the Scuderia is from a total package standpoint (visual, sound, emotional, performance, presence....) the complete car. In the end, it will come down to fan preference. I have the CS, and that experience is a keeper. I miss the everyday driveability of my Ruf 550 which I stupidly sold last year....man I miss that car. For that reason, I am going with the GT2. A few years from now, when the Scud hoopla has died down a bit, I hope to find a gently whipped example at a non-speculative price...wishful thinking ? probably ! all the best Andrew, Jas
Just remove the "th." at the end of the link. http://img501.imageshack.us/img501/5803/img34141024f403nz.jpg
Sorry, that's all I took. Wes has a stationary motorized F40 similar to the little rides you see outside of grocery stores. I have another friend who has a motorized F40 just like your Enzo and he also has a smaller F40 that you push.
I agree on not paying over for both of these cars. Im sure they will become available with low miles for MSRP or less in a couple of years. The Scuderia premium shouldnt survive the F430 replacement. In any case , you have the best cars to wait for that day Did you drive your friends F50 ? I agree that the Stradale is a keeper ! Thanks for your thoughts, Best Andrew
i did drive the friends F50...instant throttle response, nifty handling, fantastic sound...whats not to love ? My favourite angle of that car is the 3/4 rear shot.
4 of these, I know two very well, and the one with the Vector I'm fairly familiar with, while the one with the Enzo isn't one I know of beyond a few photos. Here is a rear wheel off the car. Its a wide bugger, and the center lug is torqued to infinity. Needless to say, a 4ft breaker bar with 1 inch lug adapter needed...and then utilize extreme care. When the bolt breaks loose, it is essentially an mini explosion. This rim was switched out due to a small curb rash present since I acquired it. I found a replacement rear rim and two brand new rear tires on ebay for quite a decent price (original pirelli pzero assimetrico 335/35/zr17). The local race shop was entirely enthusiastic to mount the new rubber on the new rim ! Dear Comrade RufMD, The centre lug (nut) is torqued at 650 Newton Metres. However, the new wheels do look very swish indeed. Could you not have the others refurbished? I enquire, because one of my wheels has a similar medical condition as that which you have described. I suspect this may have been caused during intercourse by the previous owner. With kind regards, 512 Tea Are
Yes, I am going to send my rim to a fellow in Florida who is apparently quite the whiz in fixing snazzy wheels. I'm sure your local dealer knows of a rim repair shop somewhere in England that does the same. Sometimes, they are mobile and will come to you. Repair capability depends on the depth of "intercourse"....

There are about 2,500 miles on Mr. Crain's car, and he is the original owner to boot [ so no possible conflict for the name on the luggage here! ] Bill owns somewhere near 30 cars out on the west side of the state. Hearsay suggests that he made something near "record" time between his home, and the car show that morning... a normally 3 hour drive he made in about 1/2 time! The car was originally bought "used" out of Canada, and is here under the show and display rules, which Bill does a wonderful job of showing and displaying on the road as often as he can! I believe there are about 7500 miles on it. Also in his fine stable, he has a Lancia Stratos, and the first production Vector W8 bought from the Saudi royal family some years back.
