Just fantastic to see these being used as an everyday car, as I've said before, one summer I daily-drove on of my F40s, in fact the only reason we take out any of our current cars is to do everyday things.

E274 BGT was the first F40 imported into the UK. It was driven from the factory to the UK by the then MD of Maranello Concessionaires. This car remained in the ownership of Maranello Concessionaires for several years, this is why it appears in so many books and photographs.

Roger Maingot was the MD of Maranello Concessionaires. What vianaforce has stated above is correct.

Roger Maingot together with Ron Stratton of Wilmslow attended the test in July '88 at Fiorano with Nick Mason and David Gilmour.
Pink Floyd had just played their gig in Modena on the 8/9th. The by now well publicised photo was probably taken on Monday the 11th.

The car on the left with Mason and Maingot standing next to it might well be what became E274 BGT in the UK. (?)
It's been on SORN and such off the road in the UK since early 2017, possible change of ownership later that year.

Of course, I didn't say anything else.
I am fully aware of who R.V.M. was.
FYI the factory lists RVM in their system as first and original owner, not Maranello Concessionaires as a company.

Probably not the same car, but didn't some employee manage to crash Maranello Concessionaires first F40 on the A30 roundabout when they got it in 1988?

So why did you post something that appeared to contradict what was stated without making it clear what you were talking about then? Especially given Roger Maingot was mentioned specifically in the original post from 2017 that was referenced.

There is a report that an F40 was taken into Tyrells F1 workshop in Ockham around that time to see if they could repair its carbon bodywork after an incident, as Harvey Postlethwaite had startled using it in the team and they had their own composite shop as a result. Very few companies back then had experience in repairing the material. It was found to be beyond saving the component and new panels would be needed. Could well be one and the same.

I had no knowledge that a 4 year old post from 2017 was somewhat referenced. How could I know that "viafornace" referred to a four year old post? He did his first post in 9 years (#3729) and did not specifically mention an old post number. We aren't supposed to go thru 3735 earlier posts before answering, right?
@jonathan: please do not surmise and/or insinuate things that I do not even think about. Thank you very much.

Could the one on the right be the finished version of the bare chassis project they had? Wheels and tyres look larger than stock?
