F40 from a few years ago reportedly with 100,500 kms on the clock at that time. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Mine has 50,000km+ and drives incredibly well. Those cars when well driven and properly maintained are solid!
The engine has not been rebuilt but the clutch bell (magnesium if I remember well) became porous ( pretty common problem with F40 and 288 Gto) and had to be treated last year by a specialist in Italy. We took the opportunity to renew the clutch (friction disks, etc. ) to make it as new. I also got the seats reupholstered by luppi some 8 years ago and that’s about it!
Awesome. Meanwhile an F40 upcoming at auction: https://www.mecum.com/lots/FL0122-487832/1992-ferrari-f40/ I believe this is 94528. 14th July 1992 build completion. Engine number 31863. New to Crepaldi Auto SpA, Milan, Italy. Fully serviced by Ferrari Newport Beach with fuel bladders changed. Over 8,000 miles.
Body #512 (an anomaly, as there are two F40's with the same body #512, the other is 85494). Marcel Massini

Another F40 recently seized by the UK authorities, this one featured on Top Gear last year. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Based on the Northern Ferrari Day showing perhaps he sorted things and got the car back, or was the seizure after the event?
Could well be before the event and now sorted, its not a major matter normally. Typically the cars get crushed though as they are usually wrecks not worth recovering from the pound once seized.
Just had a look, and unless the owner had the car trailered to and away from the event, it was breaking the law being there, and as it is still not taxed, insured nor has a valid MOT its probably still in the police compound after that event. Some rather nice cars have been crushed in the past under the same circumstances, maybe one less F40 on the planet soon. For those not from the UK, SORN means "statutory off road notification", either a car has to have current road tax, or be registered as not stored/used on a public road. MOT is "Ministry of Transport", all cars over 3 years old have to have an annual roadworthy inspection in order to be used on public roads. I don't know sorry Marcel. A trade HPI check (UK carfax) using the UK reg number would bring up the VIN, but I do not have access to such a system any more.
It does not always work out quite like that, once impounded the authorities often also take a good look over the cars/ownership details etc and if other things do not tie up then the cars are not returned straight away, in one instance in the UK by the time it got to court the Ferrari 458 in question was a big square metal door stop! https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/moment-200k-ferrari-crushed-police-12215046
