Speaking of LMs, here's a real one owned by Jean Blaton imaged by Lars T at Zandvooort in period. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Jean Blaton’s pseudonyme was Beurlys , he was a wealthy talented businessman, a musician and driver From 2005 he was obliged for financial reasons to sell his fantastic car collection. I remember his races and his presence . Some of my really good friends used to race for him on some fantastic cars. He was really generous. The end of his life was really hard. tam
He used to be in real estate. But he also was a regular and notorious visitor in casinos. And towards the end of his life his former wealth had more or less completely disappeared. Jacques Swaters told me more than once how he had to help and financially support Blaton in his later years. Marcel Massini
I am sure you are right for the majority on the forum Perso this was part of my life in Belgium He was a kind of dream for me … I saw him and the family on the tracks and at the seaside during some weekends , “ spying” their Cars in front of the villa ) tam
We don't think so, we think the result achieved by 94528 was an outlier, and we predict that the upcoming 80761 with similar miles https://www.artcurial.com/en/lot-1989-ferrari-f40-4134-161 crossing the block on March the 19th with an estimate of 1,300,000 - 1,600,000 € or @ $1,438,000 - $1,770,000 will re-set the average value of an European F40 down and reset the value delta between Eu and USA cars.
we shall see. if that owner absolutely needs to sell then perhaps. but i doubt he is willingly going to lower his price by 1 million otherwise.
F40 80761 at Artcurial Paris 18 March 2022 comes from the estate of a deceased Monaco resident, Etienne Léandri, interesting personality, google him. Marcel Massini
so he was a mobster.....hmmm sounds like his heirs may be desirous of a sale..... interesting provenance
so said Somerset Maughm my other favorite quote was from some old lady in monaco observing the gp in the 50's and said this was just an opportunity for gentlemen to act like mechanics and mechanics to act like gentlemen....or soemthing like that.
I believe the seller of 80761 is motivated. It's not a question of lowering his price, the estimates have been set based on a realistic appraisal of the overall marketplace, and the outcome will simply be determined by how much someone is willing to pay. Love that this car is here in the USA now, we tried (unsuccessfully) to buy it from the current owner for a client who loves Ferrari Supercars formerly owned by Ferrari F1 drivers. It was purchased by a dealer acting on behalf of a mutual client.
Pic taken at the parking garage of The Ritz in Amelia? Looks like a rathole. Poor car! Marcel Massini
