I have seen a list on the internet at http://www.maranello.cc a F40 prototype was sold for 460.000,-. Can someone tell me more about this car and put some photos in this thread. Xander
Xander, The car did not sell at a high bid of € 460.000,- Some more info from the RM site: http://www.rmauctions.com/AuctionResults.cfm?SaleCode=FF07# For photos and more information I suggest you do a search on "74049", there are some threads on this one.
one trivia i deducted myself is that that's the car that was pictured at the only F40 sales brochure ever issued. by now i've got one high-res pic of it but i'm hoping to get more
They also have a 2006 Ferrari F1 car. Wow, that's pretty recent! I am surprised there is no mention of a confidentiality agreement to buy the car. I'd think plenty of other teams would very much like to take a look at a 2006 Ferrari F1 car!
So what does that mean? That the reserve price (i.e. 500,000) wasn't met so the car didn't sell? Wonder if the car is coming back to RM in Chatham then.

Which F40 was used for the big fold out panels brochure that was printed on thicker cardboard like paper? The earlier 8 panel poster is on a thin paper with no print number. CH
The F40 brochure is number 561/89 - 5M/07/89. Closed it measures 13 inches by 12 7/8 inches. Cover shows a close-up picture of the front end including left headlight. CH
The buyer is obliged to leave the car in the care of "Corsa Clienti" for some time to come. Part of the deal is that they will operate the car for new owner at selected client circuit days.
So they can't just have it at their home & bring it to the track whenever? Is that how most F F1 cars are?
