Does anyone have a source for an LM wing for an F40? Tubi no longer has any in stock. I read someone here had one for sale but can't find the thread.

Johnny's car is for sale (might be sold) and Roland's is a home made aluminum wing...

Seems like Mr. F40knowitall might be the best source...

I spoke to the guy there not too long ago, sounded like they were in the process of creating a carbon fiber wing to market for the F40.

If they know more people are interested, maybe they'll make it.

Please keep me posted. A friend of mine has an F40 that is going to be down for the next 6 months so I may borrow his and see if Jim Crawford can make a copy.

If you want the ultimate big wing, buy an LM GTE rear clip like I did. It will set you back about $38K less the plexi, wiring, and paint, and hardware. When I bought the Tubi wing they were about $9K. Very easy to copy and not so well made. I have made a lot of carbon fiber parts for my car and the wing would be easy to duplicate. I would estimate that it will take about 150 hours to construct, refinish, and fit. The material cost, CF, $400, epoxy-$200, Vacuum bagging, release film, bleeder-$200, hardware $25, paint material $100, foam $40. About $1000 in materials but the labor is intensive. I've already made one myself and traded it for a some other car parts. It looked better than the Tubi wing. I wouldn't make another one unless it was a prepreg, vacuum bagged, autoclave. Mine was a room temp vacuum bag set-up. I'm sure that a "professional" prepreg wing would be more expensive. If you can find someone to do the labor you will save big. My problem is that it usually takes three tries to get it correct. I destructive tested the first one by standing on the middle while supporting the ends. I realized that a couple extra layers of CF would help. If you need material, I have most of a 100 yard roll left in 5.5 oz 2by twill weave. I also have the CF kevlar mix weave that I recommend as well. Good luck!

Well, It looks like I may need to make a phone call and find out what is going on. Everything John owns has a price!!! , but I was unaware that the car was for sale already. He must have seen the new Hyundai Sonata and fell in love.

I talked to Roland yesterday and he said John said it was NOT for sale, but I talked to the guy looking at it and he had a complete spec sheet on the car..

So there must be 3 sides to this story!

That wing looks different than the original Tubi wing. The endplates are different as well as the Gurney flap on the upper element. Was it modified?
