    Hi everyone,
    I am trying to identify sale prices of the three F40's being sold this week in Monterey.

    1. The following F40 LM appears to have sold for $3,300,000 1994 Ferrari F40 LM | Monterey 2015 | RM Sotheby's

    2. The following F40 appears to have sold for $1,237,500 Bonhams : Offered from the Tony Hart Collection,1990 FERRARI F40 Chassis no. ZFFMN34A5L0087200 Engine no. 24145

    HOWEVER the mileage disclosed does not make any sense to me.... its bounce up and down over the years showing as high as 14,000+?? Does anyone have the scoop on this car and the true mileage??

    3. The following is at Gooding

    It did not appear to sell yet or does anyone have an update??

    I draw your attention to the following in the auction text which explains the mileage discrepancy:

    "This F40 Berlinetta was delivered through Newport Beach Ferrari to Mr. Richard Engel of Costa Mesa on January 15, 1991. A few days later, Mr. Engel displayed the car at the Ferrari Owners Club USA meeting in Long Beach, California. The Ferrari Market Letter, quoting marque authority Marcel Massini, reported that Mr. Engel was listed by the FOC as the car's owner from 1991 to 1993. In 1992, the original engine suffered a lubrication failure, and a new engine was installed under warranty. At that point, the odometer appears to have been zeroed. In January, 1993, the car was shown by Mr. Harry Eberlin at an FOC meeting in Long Beach, California, and in April 1994, was traded to Garry Roberts and Company of Costa Mesa against a Ferrari 275 GTB/C Berlinetta. In 1995, Garry Roberts offered this F40 for sale in the Ferrari Market Letter, with the odometer reading about 12,500 miles, but only a few thousand on the new engine."

    In June of 1995 3,815 miles
    In June of 2006 5,645 miles
    In December, 2006 14,565
    It was sold April 16, 2007 and re-registered in Encinitas, California, on May 4th of that year mileage of 14,314
    On December 4, 2008, the car was registered in Montana, and later that month was serviced at Ferrari and Maserati of Newport Beach, California, which recorded mileage of 6384.

    Like I said, up and down and completely confusing.....

    Gooding F40 just sold for $1.25mm + premium (1.375 all in)

    The discrepancy is as a result of some people referring to the the total mileage the car has traveled, and others referring to just the mileage on the replacement engine, back-and-forth. The Dec 2006 or April 2007 entry has to be off courtesy of whoever wrote it down. We see this in the trade quite frequently, but other corroborating material will often set this straight. A bit confusing, but not very difficult to decipher when you note the car has a replacement engine.

    My question with this car is how well the replacement engine which was installed under warranty is documented.
