I'm trying to acquire a set of euro F40 seats/348 GTC seats, and I have a lead on one shell from Italy. However, the seller claims that the seat shell is fiberglass. He sent me an admittedly blurry pic that appeared to show a carbon fiber seat, but he claims that it's an original F40 seat and that it's fiberglass. Does anybody know anything about this? I thought all F40 seats were carbon kevlar... Were there only one version of US style seats and one version of Euro style/348GTC seats? It is quite hard to find good info on Google for these seats. It does appear that the Euro seats were made by a company called Hawk (with the date of manufacture stamped on the underside of the seat). Is there anybody making replica seats? I'm trying to figure out the chance that this seller is attempting to pass off a replica as the real thing...

I noticed that they have one or two ebay feedbacks... so they are brand new to Ebay. BEYOND SUSPECT!
All the F40 seats are carbon/kevlar, yes. They don't all have the stamps on the bottom. I had a pair of seat shells sent to me from Italy (un-upholstered) and the shipping was $950 using my FedEx shipping account. It's not cheap shipping form Italy... just a warning. I'd imagine a deal can be scooped up on things like these seat shells.. but if they can't take photos (that you ask for.. certain angles etc...) then I'd not even talk to them. The price alone is very sketchy. A shell like that should be a few thousand $$ at least. I paid MUCH more than that for mine and I got a VERY good deal.
I can weigh the shells I have, and you can ask them to weigh theirs to see if the weight makes sense. The carbon/kevlar is fairly light weight. and those seat shells are fairly thin. Areas on the seat "give" quite a bit if you push hard on them.
