    i recall reading in Car & Driver magazine that a total of 197 U.S. spec F40's were imported to the united states from 1990-1992. total production of the F40 is reported to be 1,311 total.

    can anyone confirm that only 197 of 1,311 F40's were sent to america?

    There is a list of 213 US/LHD cars (211 F40 + 2 F40/LM). As all of these were not necessarily imported into USA, your number seems to be in the correct window.
