There were several variations in F40s during their production run. I'm wondering if anyone has a buyer's guide type list which explains all of them, or has knowledge of all of them, and when the changes were made. These are the ones I'm aware of.

    1) Early F40s have sliding perspex windows, rather than roll down windows.

    2) Some F40s have inner doors that were mostly body colored, with a recessed exposed carbon fiber panel, while others have inner door panels that seem to be a single piece of exposed carbon. It looks like this is also related to whether or not the cars have sliding windows.

    3) Early F40s have no cats.

    4) Exhaust system variation? I've seen a wide variety of different exhaust systems fitted to F40s, I'm not sure whether this is all aftermarket, or if there was variation straight from the factory.

    5) Suspension? I've seen mention of A-arm revisions, but I'm not sure if this happened during the production cycle, or afterward.

    6) US models have ugly rubber bumper extensions front and rear.

Here are some pictures of the door and exhaust variations I'm referring to.

You really need to do a search, this has been gone over many times.

    A quick guide.

1- Sliding windows were on most early Euro cars, but were an "option" and found there way on to many late cars too.

2- Red inner door panels almost always came on cars with the sliding windows.

3- Early, non cat cars tended to have the black air boxes. Later cat cars had more heat shields and silver air boxes.

4- All F40 factory exhaust (minus the cats or no cats) is the same.

5- Suspension was all the same, except for some Euro cars having adjustable ones the US cars having some changes to comply with US crash regulations.

6- Yes, only US cars have the larger bumper pads. As well as a different splitter, a third brake lamp and side marker lamps.
