    Hi folks,

I tried, but must not be that good of a searcher. Are there any threads or articles that compare the feeling/performance of driving the F40 versus the ENZO?

Perhaps a couple of you that have both could comment?

    Regards,

    Drew

Enzo feels like you're flying down the road without a car. Everything is feather light and instant.

In the F40, you struggle with the steering, brakes, etc. Everything is heavy and delayed.

Both are very different and both are very fun.

Thanks for the comment Bill; that's interesting. I''ve never ridden in an ENZO but always thought it would be a heavy feeling car. Completely the opposite of what I thought.

The F40 controls feel heavy to me and I understand the delayed part. I always describe the acceleration to people in term of a roller coaster; step on the gas, little bit of hesitation as the last car on the coaster gets over the hill then look out.

    Thanks again.

I've never been in either vehicle, but I would imagine that it's a night and day difference between the two.

There was an article in November 2010's Classic & Sports Car magazine comparing the F40, F50 & Enzo. While the Enzo was praised for it's advancements in technology and power, the F40 was still the favorite :)

You still have your F40? I thought your father in law gave it away :)

    :)

He tried, all be it, I suspect with a little help from my wife, but I rescued it in time.

I really do love driving up to their place. I have one long (1.5hrs) route to get there that is pretty straight and visibility is good. Then the short (1.0hr) twisty ride home using another route.

I was just curious what the Enzo was like to drive.

Completely different cars. As Bill said the Enzo feels easy compared to the F40. The only thing i would say is similar is the direct steering (but still heavy at parking speed in the F40). The brakes and clutch feel heavy and slow in the F40.

The Enzo is like a 200% Challenge Stradale. It can be as easy to drive around town or on the highway (put it in 6th and relax) or it can be an animal when YOU want to, the speed is amazing, the steering as i said above is so direct that you need some time to accomodate, the brakes are phenomenal and it feels like it's on rails when you corner.

The F40 has an amazing handling too, very light and precise but you have to work much harder with the gearbox and forget about modern braking systems and really press that pedal or it wont really stop. But it is so much fun on B roads, if you can find some without Stop signs or red lights for several miles...it's heaven.

You probably don't realize it, but you nailed why I started the, "If I were a rich man thread."

Everybody goes on and on and on about the 288 GTO, the F40, and the F50 when an Enzo will run circles around all of these cars, without even trying. Frankly, you couldn't give me an F40 if I had an Enzo. Granted, I hate the way an Enzo looks. But when you're behind the wheel, it doesnt matter how it a looks.

    yes but....
for the same price you can get a 275gtb, and it is as slow as your pickup truck....and i would still rather have that than an enzo (eventho i would give my left nut to get one!).

So? There are cars that can run circles around an Enzo.

This thread is a comparo between 2 cars from 2 different eras spanning almost 20 years. You ought to put that in perspective. Its not all about SPEED, or else our interest in these cars would only be for the FASTEST thing money could buy.

    Jeez fellas.

"The brakes and clutch feel heavy and slow in the F40"

    "controls feel heavy"

    "heavy and delayed"

Just, wow. I must be driving power-assisted F40s, or, I ought to take a couple months off from the gym.

Different strokes for different folks I suppose :)

To me it's a visceral rocket-ship for the road, a real man's car, steering powered by "Arm-Strong", not for the faint-of-heart or anyone who wants to be 'comfortable'. Sometimes our pleasure should involve a little perspiration, ya know what I mean? Hearkens from that era...

By the way I have driven several Enzos, and I found them very fast. But they are a little too predictable & efficient for me. I could see how I might tire, but that's just me. I like the 'smell of fear' when I'm sitting in the cockpit of my Supercar, and the F40 provides that rush. The unpredictability and the thought that one false move and its curtains adds to the excitement. The rush on full boost is an experience unrepeatable in ANY car. When I think of the F40 one word comes to mind: Balls.

You have to put some "muscle" into driving an F40. Get in the gym and work those arms and those legs. Reduce the size of that midsection. Then and only then can driving an F40 be remotely enjoyable. Its definitely not a lazy mans supercar.

You cant deny that they do feel heavy, and as you said not for the faint of heart. It's not easy to drive as an Enzo can be. Which is good and bad at the same time. Getting caught in stop and go traffic in an F40 isnt very fun and unless you trailer the F40 to the track it will happen :)..

See, it must be my attitude, but that never bothered me one bit! Stop-and-go traffic is where I field all the questions that other motorists alongside have about their dream car, the F40. Except, I'm not dreaming, I'm driving it!

+ 1 For me the Supercar experience is when you have goosebumps all over & you have this static electricity like buzz about you. I've never driven an Enzo but the F40 is great. Yes its a little heavy & Way old tech but so is a 427 Cobra. For me the F40 is the Cobra of the Ferrari world. Its THE Classic F to own (Post Daytona)

I've talked to a guy who owns the best of the best; McLaren F1, Enzo, F50, F40 (LM Spec), Veyron, etc.

But as Mr. Sackey mentioned before, his favorite to drive is the F40 LM Spec because of the thrill it provides him and how raw it is, even compared to something as "stripped down" as an Enzo. He said it was really like the ultimate driving experience...you have the speed and power of an Enzo, but you have the raw, all-out feeling of a 288 GTO. Just my 2 cents.

If you want a car that outperforms the ENZO and drives like an F40, buy a Dodge Viper ACR. Faster and better handling than an ENZO but no drivers aids save the ABS. Torque is king!

That's the spirit Joe! :) Saw the F40 again last night, drove next to it in my GTO and looked at it from every side, listened to it, ... it is one hell of a car and it will always be one hell of a car. I think comparing the F40 with the Enzo is very difficult. Depends on what you are looking for, taste, ... . What I'm about to write is so cliché but I'll write it anyway: give me both so I can compare them every day.

The only reason that the ACR is able to post times comparable to those of an Enzo, is that huge wing plus its modern sticky semi-slicks. Shod with modern semi slicks I am going to stipulate that the Enzo is a lot quicker. As far as straight line performance is concerned, there is not comparisson. The Ferrari is much faster, especially over 200 km/h.

I'm sure it's not as heavy as my 365 Boxer and I don't b*tch and moan when I'm in that in traffic. Sure you sweat a bit. So what?

The GB is actually harder than in a 365 Boxer IMO. Who said anything about *****ing or moaning? I said it's not very fun which it is not.
