Nice video. That looks like a very fun road to be driving on.

He says the F40 Gb is very slow and i agree. Other than 0 feel brakes, it's the other letdown of the F40 when you want to drive fast.

    Andrew:

I find the F40 gearbox is only slow for those who have never driven one and those who dont drive one very often. Once you bond with the car, and once you know how to use the first few miles to warm it up, boy, that box gets much quicker! Its really a car that 'needs' a 'driver'. Its not a car thats going to make things easy for you, and its not supposed to (dont forget the era its from), but meet the car halfway with committed effort and the rewards are just like no other automotive experience I have experienced. And I have experienced a few different cars...

As to the brakes, I find they are plenty fine for road use once you warm them up a bit. Just gently left-foot-brake where possible whilst accelerating during the first mile or so and you are all set. But remember too, this is a macho car which demands firm input on brakes, clutch, and even throttle. To get the brakes to work, you have to give them a shove. No tentative inputs when driving the F40.

The F40 is for people who still want to drive Ferraris and feel like the car needs their skills to do its thing. Its for those who dont mind a little perspiration in exchange for their pleasure (if you know what I mean...). Driving one in a spirited manner and exploring its performance capabilities competently is hugely satisfying, if not only because you know that not everyone can drive one like its meant to be driven, and in fact these days not many people want to expend the effort needed in an F40, in order to go fast. And believe me this car will both show up your driving mistakes and sensationally reward you for driving it well. This is a car you 'step up' to drive, so its for those days where you feel great. I think those who can really drive one should wear a badge that says: "Qualified F40 Operator", or something similar! I can see how some people try one for the first time and dont like it, or are intimidated by it. But drive one often and as the old saying goes: 'practice makes perfect'.. A very rewarding car, I think.

All of which begs the question: Andrew is the Enzo with all its high-tech spoiling you? :)
