Has anyone owned/driven both an F40 and an Enzo? How do they compare in performance, speed and handling? Maintenance? TIA!
I have them both. The F40 for 8 years now and the Enzo a year. Both of them extreme and would not sell either. The F40 is a Lion. Fierce and a big raw go kart. The Enzo is a modern todays fast car that listens to all your commands and very easy to drive. Just point and shoot. In the F40 you have to be very alert on the next move as the car is wild!!!!
Nero, are you considering one or both? I don't have much Enzo experience, but I love my F40. Never regretted it for a second. Can't really afford an Enzo, so for me no choice, but even if I could, I'd rather have an F40. In fact for the price of an enzo you can get an F40 and an F50. That would be my choice. Obviously a very personal decision. definitely no wrong answer! Also, if you buy an F40 today, the price is almost certain to rise. Likewise, I think it's relatively safe to assume, enzo prices will be flat or maybe drop a little in the next 5 years. Just my $0.02.
I have a collection of cars and drive the heck out of them. The F40 is unbelievable but when you get in an Enzo and drive you feel that you are on a another level that you never new existed. I get this all the time.
I havent driven the Enzo yet , but can relate to what 2nastie is saying . And his last post makes me want to fly to NY asap
Thinking about it. I miss my last 800HP supercharged car and would like a Ferrari that feels the same. Gobs of power and torque. Can't quite justify an Enzo yet, maybe a few years out on that one. An F40 is a possibility. Not sure I want an Enzo's level of attention. Would love a black one tho. How is the F40 to maintain? I worry about how the F40 might hold up in a street wreck. I've never wrecked one of my sportscars, but it's nice to feel like u have a chance if something bad happens. Both cars look great. F40 pricing is a plus for appreciation/depreciation. What is visibility like out the back, rear 1/4 and sides of each car?
So would this have been a Koenigsegg CCR, or something else? Lucky you, especially if it really was the CCR!
F40 routine maintenace / belts etc actally isn't that bad... about the same as a Testarossa. remember no electronics to drive up costs. and pretty easy to access most things. Bodywork will cost a small fortune, should you ever need it. engine re-build likely quite high. F40 has a real frame, so it should fare reasonable well in a crash, but it is light. and no airbags, so clearly not as "safe" as a modern airbag equipped car IMO. Visibility is fantastic front, side, and rear 1/4's. Direct rear visibility is limited because the lexan window causes distortion and vibrates. best visibility is through the airholes in the window, but they are off midline of course. You can see that a car is directly behind you, but you can't recognize what specific type of car it is behind you (can't tell if it's a police car for example...). I keep my side mirrors angled a little further in than usual, to provide a little extra direct rear view. As for level of attention... the F40 gets a lot of attention, but I suspect an Enzo would get quite a bit more......
Thx for the replies 2nastie/SDorton! It was a custom C5 Corvette with a Vortech T-Trim. The supercharger belt issues became a bit too much at the end. My sole mechanic started smoking tons of weed and I couldn't rely on him to service the car anymore. I really need to setup a garage so I can start doing minor work myself. Got tired of the blower belt maintenance as well as seeing too many Corvettes everywhere I went, so decided to switch to a more reliable non-SC F-Car. But when everything held together, 680rwhp is amazing. It's very hard to go backwards when you reach that power level. FWIW, the stability of the 575 from 120-170mph is definitely a step up. Not to mention the styling.
Not sure about the F40, but there is this well-documented Enzo that was crashed on the PCH last winter at 160 mph, driver walked -er- ran away. LOL
i think it was luck where the car hit the post , maybe another 2 feet forward into the door and it would of been game over for driver and passenger , not sure .
I know a lot of people come on here and make wild claims about owning this or that. Just incase any of you are wondering about the legitimacy of 2Nastie's claims, I'll vouch for him and the fact that he does indeed drive the snot out of them! My hat's off to 2Nastie for driving them and not just looking!

maybe a picture of the engine bays would help... cuz uh, last time i checked no one really puts two superchargers on one engine. twin turbochargers is much more believable. so before you lie about stuff, at least make sure you're using the correct terminology.
Really? Maybe you should do some research before you make yourself look like a complete ass. http://www.hotbrasbykal.com/DSCN1728.JPG Heffner had twin paxton superchargers on a diablo not too long ago. Given the space constraints it's VERY easy to believe they would use two smaller superchargers rather than one very large one. I still think the guy is full of chit regarding his car list, but twin superchargers have been done for a LONG time.
