scgullen has a good point. Plus, many who are currently searching or recently bought an F40 have already done most of the homework to advise you. Most of them post in that SuperFerraris section. Good luck and find a great one!
You may not want to be profiled but a clue as to where you are may entice others to help you since there are F40's for sale all over the world but you may only be allowed a US or Euro spec - for example there's one at Graypaul in the UK now
As you choose, but some also will not put a friend in contact with an unknown. I don't have a lead currently either way. Just my $0.02.
Profiles are also about building community on internet sites where people often never meet face to face and rely on stated information to create a sense of community with other "strangers". I have "profiled" myself, even though a careful person when it comes to public information, on many car boards and have never had any problems or unwanted solicitation as a result of it. I have, though, been pm'ed on numerous occassions by other board members who recognize me from this board or that and have established friendships and networks because of it. If you pm me I can give you a number to contact for a very nice car.
