I can't help but speculate with Ferrari announcing that all the cars they produce beginning in 2019 onwards will be hybrid that these manuals are going to keep trending upwards. This is earlier than BMW, Porsche, and Audi which start going hybrid across the product line in 2021.

As many of us know, there are 3 Californias, approx 30 599 GTBs, and about 1500 F430s that have been produced worldwide (I'm going with 9% on the take rate for the F430s which is not confirmed. As you may know, guesstimates range from 5-15% depending on resource and who you believe).

With hybrids coming in about 2 1/2 years from now, I can only assume this will be an additional reason to own one of these 'modern classics'. The progress in automobile engineering is changing very rapidly, and this presumably significant increase in weight will be another blow to driver involvement. I think the writing is on the wall here. Was very recently thinking of possibly selling my F430 but after this article, I just become more and more sure everyday that it will only be a regret with time. Enjoy your cars guys, they will only become more and more special.

They may also become socially unacceptable and suffer crippling taxation due to their non-environmentally friendly credentials, and thus plummet in value.

Either way, it's definitely a case of enjoy them whenever possible.

I don't think hybrid will devalue ICE so much. In fact my opinion is that full electric will be the ICE killer. Will ICE just become museum pieces? Not sure but I don't think hybrid will kill them off.
As for values, who knows, certainly here in the UK classic car and especially Ferrari and such have increased in value massively in the last two years.

I don't see how hybrids will affect manual trans car prices? The reason that manuals are increasing in value is because they stopped making them and all the new cars have DCT transmissions.

going hybrid is irrelevant to the manual since it's already been killed off.
