I found a F430 Coupe that has around 7000 miles, problem is, it's due for the 6000 mile service, and has not seen a dealer since 3000 miles What do you guys think? I want a PPI and dealer to inspect the car before I can even place a price/value on it What type of price would you need to see on it before you'd disregard these things? Red/tan/auto
This would not bother me at all. I'd take her in for the 6k service, then you'll know the car is right when you have that done. If you still want to get a PPI done beforehand then that's fine too, either way you'll get the 6k done which shouldn't cost too much. With timing chains you don't have to worry about belts that may have not been done in the past, so I would not fret too much at all on the lack of records - Car if fairly new AND little miles on it.
what year car? I wldnt hesitate - price isn't going to be much different becuz of the service history - its a 430.
It is a 2007, the difficult part about a PPI is that the nearest dealer is 300 miles away- how have others handled this in the past?
You could ask the seller to take the car to the PPI location. Since the seller still owns the car, they might prefer to be in control. It's certainly not unheard of for a buyer to pay for a car to be transported to the PPI location, and brought back after the inspection is complete. It's all up to you and your seller if such an arrangement makes sense and is financially reasonable. Be respectful of the seller and he'll probably let you do as you please within reason. Enclosed transporter, etc.
bought my '07 with 6,800mi three years ago. car had limited history and i did not PPI it. with a little legwork i was able to locate most of it's service history --just turned 23K and is running strong. i do an annual service. no regrets--
That was a risky move! Glad it worked out for you. I agree that obtaining the service history can be possible with some legwork. I did this, and wound up getting a complete service history for my car, even though the previous owner was only able to present it for his own term with the car. VIN given to a Ferrari Repair Center will be able to tell you what campaigns have been completed to date.
