I need some advice on a 2005 F430 Spyder with low miles and F1 that seems to have a "communication issue" with the ABS module. The car was running perfectly when all of a sudden a low speed, like 10-15 MPH, the ABS and dashboard lights began to light up and I immediately took it to an independent Ferrari repair shop that has done great work in the past and they have had the car 2 weeks and said they narrowed the issue to a communication problem with the ABS module as everything else was not a problem. Has anyone else had a similar issue and or know of a fix other than replacing the hard to find ABS module. I do not know if it is just the motor or the electronics part. Thanks for any help.
Often these issues start appearing when the battery is on its way out. I recommend buying a cigarette lighter voltmeter so you can keep an eye on what the battery is doing. The ABS sends data to a variety of computers/components, so if it's getting to one, but not another, I would say that the ABS module is not the issue. All I can suggest is doing wiring continuity checks between the ABS ECU and the F1 TCU. I can give you some connector pin numbers for that (or is the car still at the shop?)
Here are the databus wires on the ABS ECU and the F1 TCU. Image Unavailable, Please Login The wire colours are green and white, but you probably won't be able to see the wire colours because of the plastic covering on the harnesses. Check green to green and white to white, then check white to green. Note that the images above show the harness connectors as seen from the face of the connectors (not the wiring side). i.e. the metal contact side side
It might not be related but do you have a scanner that will compare the wheel speeds, a launch will read all 4 and you can impose the graphs onto 1 graph to see if they all match, what happens to the abs if it is not reading one wheel revs
Are you still drinking that cold Aussie beer ? A good bottle of Stout would do you the world of good.
