Living about 80 miles from the dealership, I try to take care of small things.

Was pulled over tonight by two Sarasota Sheriffs cars because my backup lights were on. While standing by the side of a busy highway in the dark, we determined that they are on all the time the car is running.

Any thoughts on correcting the problem short of going to the dealership?

Have you changed the radio head unit? Sometimes people have issues with reversing lights with aftermarket head units.

I just installed a Blaupunkt. Funny you mention this. Didn't see the connection. Tomorrow will unplug the harness. Any thoughts on what is going on with the change?

Hah! Was going to say the same thing. Check the wiring diagrams (manuals and marked on top of the units)... It's not plug and play. The stock unit has a couple connections that are not used with an aftermarket unit... Like the speed sensor wire.

Really strange. I was aware that the Blaupunkt and Becker were different but before sitting in front of two patrol cars last night with their lights flashing (Sarasota has no crime so they have to stay busy), I don't know of the problem. The Becker A1 connection is as you say for Speed Sensor and has an asterisk next to it saying to consult the operation guide. A2 has the same asterisk but nothing else whereas A3 is the Radio mute. I used a Mercedes M class harness that has no wires in these 3 positions. A1 on the Blaupunkt is the ground for the sub woofer and A3 just says Sub out. A2 is the radio mute. Do you have a solution to this problem short of pulling the fuse for the backup lights?

I just noticed cm2 had a similar problem with the backup lights and disconnected the external CD player. If I am correct, the CD player is controlled by the C3 connector. I have this unplugged but the lights are still on. Am I missing something?

You need to really just look at the wiring diagrams and look what changes you have to make... It's only going to be one or two connections that either need to be moved or need to terminate. you can do those to the OEM wiring, or you can modify a euro harness to do the same thing.

I'm pretty sure that this is coming from the C block of connectors - without the Becker system there is no reason to plug anything from that connector block in and if I recall correctly someone else had this same issue when it was plugged into a Blaupunkt. I left it unplugged when I put the Blau in my 07 and have had no issues.

Oh just noticed you said they were unplugged. Not sure then. I do know there was one wire on the A connector that wasn't listed as anything on the Becker diagram but it definitely had a signal going to it. Which Becker did you have stock?
