I want to swap in an Optima Yellow Top (thought might have to go with a Red Top). I know many of the systems are voltage sensitive so I was wondering if there is anything special I need to do or consider before swapping out the battery?

It looks like the positive terminal is towards the passenger door with the negative terminal towards the driver door (which is why I may have to go Red Top, I don't think there is a 34R in Yellow).

Has anyone successfully mounted a Yellow Top in one of these cars?

What do I do with the vent tube as the Optima's don't have a port to connect to?

Is it just as simple as unscrewing the terminals, putting in the new, and screwing the terminals back on? Which to connect first? Positive or Negative?

    Thoughts/Suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    TIA!

After you change the battery there are these stupid little codes in the computer that have to be reset so you can pass smog. You can do a search on how to reset the codes. For some reason I can never get it and end up going to the stealership to have it completed

Would this yellow top not work? Reversed on top and roughly the same specs just a little smaller in size. Group 35 though instead of 34.

I installed a red top in my 2007. I had to replace the J bolts as the factory ones were too short to get a secure mount. I shut off the battery switch first then disconnected neg then pos. I reconnected the new battery pos first then neg. I left the vent tube in place but it is not connected to anything. Afterwards I switched the battery switch back to on and turned the key to the on position for about 15 seconds and then started the car and run for a few minutes. No re-learn issues. I did have to punch in the Becker code.

What size nuts are needed for the factory posts that connect to the battery terminals?
