    Hello

Is it a problem to put the front rotors from the F430 Challenge on a F430 Scuderia?

Its seem to be the same size 398mm..

    But ...

    1. can i use my original brake pads on it?
    2. is it "okay" brake reaktion when i drive the car "daily" and not on the track? I meen is it gonna be a problem to brake the car, because the challenge rotors need to be really warm before it could brake... and when you drive on the highway the rotors maybee is to cold?

    Best regards...

The F430 Challenge and 430 Scuderia shared the same Brembo CCM rotors (same composition of the disc so yes the pads work on them and they do work on the road the same as road car discs) however the difference was in the center bells. They are different enough on the 430 Challenge cars so that they are not a straight fit onto 430 Scuderia.

Why? This is because the 430 Challenge cars use a Central Locking hub fitment and the Scuderia used 5-Stud fitment hubs. The 430 Challenge car ccm center bells therefore have a larger central hole drilled into the mounting bells, they are only actually a tiny bit wider in diameter (annoyingly by only about 1 or 2mm's) than the 430 Scuderia road car discs but this makes them incompatible.

All is not lost however, you still have options to make it work! As long as the fixing nuts have not welded themselves to either your old 430 Scuderia ccm discs (due to the heat) or your new 430 Challenge discs, it is relatively easy to unbolt and swap over the center bells. In effect using the Scuderia bell on the 430 Challenge disc. Sometimes the rust on the fixing screws is so bad that removal of the old bell is nigh on impossible. I think this is the main reason why Ferrari only sell complete discs and not the center bells or mounting nuts separately.

Be aware of buying used 430 Challenge discs since the early ccm compounds (specifically the Pagid RS19 compound that was originally specified by Brembo) was very aggressive and under competition conditions could actually take large "chunks" out of the surface of the disc. If the disc is not completely smooth and free of any imperfections its likely either passed its usage or getting very close.

    Hope this information helps.
