My 2006 F430 has 21,000 miles on it. I took it in for an annual, and they tell me it is down to 15% left on my clutch. I want to get a second opinion, but I'm curious.

On the 360 I used to have, they said drive it until it pops out of gear, and then it's time to get a clutch. What's your experience?

Also...how many miles are you getting on your original F430 clutch?

My F430 has 48000 km now and still runs on its original clutch...my F-dealer tells me it is time to think about getting a new clutch when you feel it slipping between gear changes when you push it hard..

Put your manettino in RACE or CST (WET and SPORT will usually cause bit of clutch slippage), push to full throttle (like a dragrace) and change gear above 8000 rpm...if you feel it is slipping when engaging new gear then it's time for a new clutch.

    Hope this helps.

Avoid getting stuck or flatbedding it to the dealer for replacement, drive it in while it's still intact and get it changed, not saying you can't eek out a few more miles, but I wouldn't want to get stuck somewhere...

FWIW, I just sold my 430 with 3000 miles on it. It had 92% of the clutch remaining. I was very sane with how I drove the car. Extrapolating, 30000 miles or so.
That said, I saw somebody ruin a clutch in 10 minutes loading it on a trailer.

If it was me I wouldn't do anything until i really needed to, the clutch wear measurement is rough at best, if the car is working fine i'd leave it and wait till you have early symptoms of clutch wear.

My car is at 31k miles and approx 50% worn.

I doubt that it would just die without some sign of progressive slippage.

My 2006 430 F1 had the clutch replaced just before I bought it at 18,500 miles. It still had around 40% remaining, but the TO bearing was leaking so the dealer went ahead and replaced the entire clutch. So until something like that occurs or you notice it starting to slip, I would drive and enjoy.

I just replaced mine at 22.5k, at first it dropped out of gear a few times then it started slipping in first. When it went it went really quick. New clutch is great.

Question for those that replaced their clutch - what was the cost? I have 23k miles and not had problems yet, but I assume before spring I will be replacing.

    Why do you assume that?

Everything I have read on these forums it seems the clutches last 20-25k miles on average, figuring I was getting close. I do drive almost exclusively in Race or sport and I understand tats easier on the clutch. If you have an opinion on how long they last i would love to hear it!

Simply ask your dealer or shop plug the computer into your car and show you exactly how much clutch left; it was what I did at 15K KM check , there was 75% left that showed clearly at their hand-held computer that plug into my F430 under the Steering (but I don't know where)

There's no single answer that works for everyone, someone might get 5000 miles someone else 50000 miles, mine is at approx 50% at 31K miles.

Get a clutch wear reading from your dealer is the only way to get an idea.
