I recently purchased an 07 F430 spider with 7k miles on it. The car was equipped with an aftermarket Tubi exhaust system. The exhaust system itself does not have any valves on it that I can see. When I start the car when it is cold it is very loud. Then after a minute or two it abruptly becomes much quieter. Are there other valves in the system ahead of the muffler for warm up that would cause this? I am hoping that this is not a header issue. I specifically had asked the dealership to check the headers for any leaks before I made the deal and they told me that there were no leaks. Ive only put about 120 miles on the car so far and if it has any issues I would like to address them asap with the dealership. Thanks in advance for any input.

My 07 coupe with Fabspeed headers does the same thing. When the stock exhaust was still installed it did it as well but not as obvious.

If there are no valves then it could be the warm up procedure. From dead cold, the ECU overfuels the mixture (open loop) and raises the revs. Once the engine gets warmer the ECU goes into closed loop operation and drops the revs.

It is normal for 360s-430s and even for 355s. When it is cold after first crank it operates around 1200-1400 rpm for about 90 seconds. During this 90 seconds it checks all electronic systems. The sound is high regardless of the w or w/o valve mufflers.
In contrary if it does not howl or if it starts with poor idling than it means that you may have problem with one or more ignition coils or dirty MAFs.
