I was wondering what opinions were out there regarding colour and specs of an F430. Initial thoughts: Rosso Corsa Black (non-daytona) Elec seats Red Stitching (standard pitch) Black carpets Carbon Dash Yellow Dial Red brake calipers Tyre Pressure System F1 gearbox Battery pre-wiring Fire Extinguisher Scuderia Badges However having looked at a couple of the pics of the beige interior - that looks a little lighter in the cabin. Not sure if anyone has a pic of that plus the carbon dash - does that work? The only thing fixed is the exterior colour - it must be red..... Comments welcomed... DB1
Sounds great, will be able to tell you first hand what tan and carbon looks like, friend of mine is getting his 430 spider in a 2 weeks or so.
Your car will look great with those options. My only advice would be to lose the battery charger option. Forget about the cost issue, it's just not very convenient to use. Had this option on my first 360 and never used it -- the receptacle is tucked away under the access panel in the front boot (near the brake fluid reservoir) and the charging unit itself is rather large and bulky. It does, however, come in a beautiful leather case. If I wanted/needed a trickle charger, I ended up using my Porsche battery maintainer or something akin to it. If you wanted some extra leather (especially since you're getting red stitching), you might want to consider the door sills/rear shelf area in leather option. Enjoy the new car.
Go with tan interior it looks better and has better resale. Although carbon will not look all that hot with tan interior.
I was wondering about the tan interior - but is this a more popular combination? If tan interior is it better to have a aluminium trim rather than carbon?
The tan interior looks better in person than in pictures off the net. It shows too light in pictures. The aluminium vs carbon is a personal choice. I've seen both and aluminium looks better with the tan (IMO). I ordered my 430 red/tan/aluminium.
YES aluminum over carbon, you save money and get a better look as opposed to black interior. Also get a tan dash this will really make the 430 stand out.If you have a problem with glare from reflection of the dash then polarized sunglasses will cut any glare out for you.
Why does alu save money? You can choose either alu or CF, they are both no cost options. Only if you got for the extended CF kits they will rip you off.
db1, I got mine with red/tan and black carpets with black piping. Also have a red tach (the yellow sticks out too much). I was worried about not being able to see the tach well enough with red, but it has not been a problem. Brushed aluminum accents go especially well with the stick shift. Also, (I am speculating) that carbon fiber trim might reflect sunlight in bad ways off the dash, but this is really a personal preference. I think CF is kind of gimmicky myself. Tan leather does lighten up the cabin which is why I prefer it in small cars. The black carpets blend well with the dash leather. Brown carpets really are not good looking IMO. If you want more black leather, you could order the headliner in black with tan seats. Some people get gray leather with red exterior which I think is pretty nice as well, except red stitching or piping won't work with that. Dave
db1, I forgot about the options.... I asked about the tire pressure monitoring, fire extinguisher and battery charger before ordering. The sales manager nixed all 3. As for the TPM, he said on the 575's they had been very troublesome and inconvenient in some ways because they have to be re programmed if you change your pressures. I suspect there will be aftermarket systems that will be much better and much cheaper. As for the fire extinguisher, you can have a mount made that can be removed for a lot less money plus the Ferrari extinguisher may be difficult to get recharged. If you ever sell, the extinguisher option will scream "track car". As for the battery charger, it turns out Ferrari of Denver installs and gives away with each car an aftermarket kit. The receptacle is under the passenger footwell. They began doing this because many customers were having problems when batteries went dead and everything had to be rebooted. The charger is a good idea if you plan to leave the car undriven for any length of time, but you may want to ask about aftermarket ones first. Dave
Dave, Thanks for the input. A couple of comments: 1. In order to drive in Europe a fire extinguisher is a legal requirement in a few countries. Its not that much and I think most cars of this class have one. 2. I have had a TPM for many years in Mercedes and they have been quite reliable. I find it pretty good for a quick check and especially if you get a slowish puncture it flags up. I will check with the Ferrari mechanics that I know about the reliability - thanks for the warning. 3. Do you have a picture of your interior - that would be very useful to see the colour combination. 4. I have heard from a few other F-car owners that you can actually use a charger in the cigarette lighter to do the same thing. More convenient. Again, thanks for the input - keep em coming - this is all useful information
db1, I don't have any really good pics of the interior, but you can see some in the general discussion group thread "143718 arrived" last posted 8/19, so easy to find. Good luck. Dave
First, stick with the black interior. Red/tan is way too common and just plain boring on modern Ferraris. Don't become yet another me-too lemming! I would lose the following: Carbon Dash Tyre Pressure System F1 gearbox Battery pre-wiring Scuderia Badges Other than that, looks good!
