Curious - any comments regarding the quality of rearward visibility (can you see who's 1/4 mi behind you) in a F430 coupe? Tnx! Great site!
In my coupe it's mostly engine rearward but I can see whose behind 1/4 mi. No issue there. Not bad. The spider imay be different. As they say the first rule of Italian driving: What's behind me doesn't matter. Scott
I appreciate your quick responses, and the good chance that I can see who's gaining on me. :-0 In the market to buy but haven't pulled the trigger yet. unkie
What is it that they say again? The first rule of Italian motoring is, "What ever it is behind you does not matter"! ;P
Mirrors are your friend. I have found that lane changes are where you'll find your blind spots. I have my side view mirrors out a little more than I would normally set them and always do the over the shoulder glance. As for backing up, no problem. Visibility is pretty good.
I almost hit someone two weeks ago on I-4 who was in my blind spot--I did not see and almost hit them--heard the horn and jumped back. Usually I am going faster than everyone so no one can sneak up into the blind spots--but it happened.
Visibility is fine apart from the rear 3/4 view behind the passenger seat. The C pillar is pretty wide there so I've missed a car or two when merging left (right in the US I guess).
thanks again! great community... I'm just looking for assurance from long-term pilots that if the wrong vehicle is a ways back there or if traffic behavior is changing a ways back (for some not-yet-confirmed reason), I might have a good chance of seeing that sufficiently far in advance to, um, well, conform. I can work with lane changes or near-vicinity cars because I've learned to in vehicles with huge blind spots. It's the "way-back" vision I'm most concerned with. I appreciate all your input!! tnx again! unkie
I don't think its that bad if you use the mirrors. The hardest thing is making a left turn when there is some kind of obstruction that makes you look across and behind- you'll have to nose out a drop more than normal.
