We noticed just after getting our new 430, that there was a metallic rattle coming from the right rear exhaust pipe. Sitting in neutral, and giving it just a little gas makes it a bit worse.

After asking our dealer, he said that this happens quite often (on Lamborghinis as well), and it is probably the exhaust bypass valve vibrating when it's in the closed position.

Is there any way to tighten this up easily? (by myself, having our dealer do it requires a flat-bed round trip of about 360 miles, and that seems like such a waste).

I think I got the same problem on my 430 (March 05 delivery). In my case the rattle started November 05. My mechanic was thinking it was the bypass but at the end it was the fixation of the exhaust. I was told that all F430 in Europe will get a new improved fixation to avoid rattle next time they come to a service.

There is an exhaust hanger update for earlier cars at least. My car was delivered 8/05. Had the update in May although mine never really was a problem. Not sure when the change was made on new cars.
