It took me a while to find an F430 exhaust system. After months of searching I finally found one for a reasonable price. Meaning under the typical $4k+ asking price. I actually ended up buying two systems - maybe I got too greedy? I might sell the second exhaust or open it up to see if there is room for improvement.

So, finally the F430 exhaust has been installed on my 360 Spider.

    What do I think?

The sound has improved greatly. I also think there is much better throttle response now.

With the stock exhaust going through a tunnel was a real bummer. Now I think my name is Michael Schumacher and I have joined the Ferrari F1 team when going through a tunnel.

Listen to the before and after videos below. These are actually taken on two different cars. The first video is in my '04 US spec Spider in Italy, the second is my "newer" '04 Spider in CA. The CA tunnel is m u c h shorter. If you can show me a longer tunnel I'll take another video.

The F430 exhaust system opens the valves around 3500 RPM in gears 3 and higher just like a Capristo or Kreis-Sieg. In 2nd gear it opens at 6000 PRM.

First some pictures, the last one shows the polished F430 tips, then below the videos.

I'm sure there is marginally more HP and TQ because of the more free flowing exhaust above 3,500 RPM. But it must be less than 20 hp.

I have another 430 exhaust for sale if you are interested.

Do you get any of the resonance and booming at low rpm that people complain of with the Tubi and Capistro? Any idea how this exhaust compares to the Stradale? Identical or just similar?
Also any way to get the valves to open before 6,000 rpm in the low gears. Would be nice to hear the great sound while still travelling at legal speeds.

Has anyone else tried this exhaust or the Stradle exhaust?

No resonance or booming at low rpm.

If you leave the hoses off the valves it will be open all the time. You could get the electonic F430 exhaust module that opens earlier in 2nd gear.

Sounds like an F430, no idea about Stradale.

Sounds great but what interested me was the way the people got out of your way in Italy when they saw you gaining on them in the "FAST LANE"
As an ex pat from England I hate the way people in the US have no concern for others and just hang in the so called fast lane at any speed they like.
I think if the police cracked down on this kind of behavior the speed limit could be raised and accident rates would still drop.

    Rant over

THAT is a very valid observation. In most other countries it's considered standard/common to cruise in the "slow" lane and almost exclusively use the "fast" lane only for passing.

This is just not customary in America....perhaps because we're used to all the traffic & congestion or because it just isn't part of our culture or general practice. I myself keep the far left-lane clear unless I'm the fastest guy...which also makes you the easiest mark for the cops to pick you up in.

In an ideal world, we could go as fast as "safe" on the freeway and since our Ferrari's have the gearing I'd imagine they are most efficient at about 90-110 mph and as such the Fast Lane should be re-named the Ferrari-Lane. Bridges would be erected where pedestrians could watch us go by and woman with large breast could flash us. Today a dream, tomorrow a Road-Reality :)
