read this on rennteam: "I had my car in for service and found that they had replaced my exhaust system pursuant to a directive from Ferrari which apparently applies to all 430's. They have had problems with braces cracking and initially were replacing on as needed basis. However, the problem is pervasive in all 430's and Ferrari is replacing the exhaust on all of them. It only involves the piping and tips and not the muffler. I am not sure if it is a recall or techical bulletin." Does anybody know anything more specific about this?
Thought of posting it after having read it on the Rennteam forum. Maybe someone here with a F430 ran into the same issue.
Mine was built in July. When I took it for service last month, I was told that that campaign did not need to be done on my car. I wonder what the cut off date was, when the factory starting fixing during the build?
Confirmed today there is a campaign coming that will be replacing pipes & tips on most 430's It is not a critical campaign, it basically has to do with noise caused by the pipes vibrating against something.
During my 12,000mile service in October they replaced "both exhaust brackets cracked at mounting point". I now have a rattle. I didn't have one before!
My F430 is a July 2005 model, and yes, they Ferrari in Tokyo recalled my car (sometime in February or March 2006, don't recall with precision) to make the exhaust changes described earlier.
One more confirmation--brought my 05 in for annual service today. They are replacing the tips and brackets under service campaign "173: exhaust tailpipe kit"
Sounds like my exhaust vibrates and buzzes, where are the brackets located and can I easily tell if they are cracked? Any pics
My 2006 was delivered in May. When it was in for service during December, the tips and brackets were replaced. I was told that the replacements are thicker/heavier to withstand the vibration. Told that many F430s have cracking brackets and pipes from vibration.
My car was a Dec 06 delivery. Do you think that the new tips and brackets were installed at the factory?
Porsche had a recall on the 997 exahust tips flying off..I wonder if Ferrari & Porsche use the same supplier for exhausts..
I know this is brining up an old thread etc... But we got a letter through today saying about a recall for our 430 (and those with similar specs and details) regarding a part to do with (like a bracket or something) clutch pump and fluid reservior. The letter had been delayed from December, as it went to the wrong address. But we plan to put and car in, in the future to have it done (along with a service and a few other small issues). Was from Ferrari GB Ltd. And our model is an MY06 Coupe, Manual gearbox.
Mine is being replaced as we speak. I'll reply again if its anything different what has been mentioned.
