i own a 2006 F430 with 19,000 miles. I bought a full fab speed system. Headers test pipes and also an x pipe that replaces the muffler. Before i install it i hear horror stories of people changing systems and doing straight pipes then having motor issues if the car isn’t re tuned. Is this true or false?

Definately will need a retune with no catalytic converters. Might want to buy all your neighbors ear plugs as well.

I learned something today! Thanks Dale. I didn't think a tune would be needed. I'm running Agency Power headers with an S-Line exhaust but have the OEM cats.

Steve, the OP stated he is replacing the cats with test pipes. However, your setup may be borderline since you still have the biggest restriction in the OEM exhaust.

There are mail two reasons to ever retune a car when things are done to help it breathe easier; 1) to take advantage of intake and exhaust enhancements, and 2) to ensure the engine isn't running too rush, or worse yet... lean as s result. Leaning out an A/F mix can result in pinging (detonation). Our engines are too costly to take any risks. At least get your car on a dyno to measure the mix with a proper gauge.
