Hi, ....as many of the F430 owners do I have a broken tail light...., in order to get access do I need to remove the engine bay cover but on the left site is the fuel cap release cable located as well. Any good proposal how I can remove the handle from the fuel cap release cable? Image Unavailable, Please Login Best regards, Jan
At the top of the handle in your picture is the silver clip that holds the handle bar to the internal safety cable to open your gas door. You need to pull that clip up high enough to release tension on the cable. You could also remove the clip completely but its a bit of a struggle to reinstall. I used a small needle nose pliers. Here is the part in question: https://www.ricambiamerica.com/car-diagrams/ferrari/v6-v8/430-group/f430-05-08/opening-devices-for-engine-bonnet-and-g/60711000-spring-for-handle.html Table 114 - item 24-26. As am in the quarter panel often, I decided to keep the handle bar off.
Jan456, Good to meet you. It is easy, there is a little, looks like a small staple when it is pulled out, clip you need to remove before you can remove the handle. You can see it in the picture you posted, that metal part on the side of the handle. Just get a small screw driver, and push it under the clip comes right out. Be careful not to drop as it would be very hard to find in engine bay. I believe, as I have removed mine a couple of times, you do not need to pull it all the way out, just pull it out enough so it clears the catch point on the gas puller cable. That way you wont risk losing it. To put it back on, use a small pair of pliers to hold the cable, get the clip started, only in a little ways, push it over the cable you are holding with pliers and push with your fingers, it is that easy. Good luck, let me know how it goes.
