Hi I have been trying to establish who actually builds the F430 GT2 cars? Am I right in assuming michelotto build the basic car and teams such as AF Corse complete the car the relevant race spec? Would a AF corse car be considered a "Ferrari works" car and therefore better / more valuable?

You are correct, Michelotto receives only the chassis from the Ferrari Factory and the rest is manufactured by Michelotto. there are almost no serial parts as this is more of a prototype.

During the years the Car raced (2006-2010) the GT2 gots many updates on chassis, suspension, aerodynamics, engine etc. latest versions are the so called wide body versions. only a few have been made and if I'm not very much mistaken only 6 (latest 2010 Spec). AF Corse is by far the most experienced team and they are acting somehow as a semi works team for Ferrari. It is a great car but be aware of the running costs and the car is not easy to drive and requires professional staff. If you do only a few track days, costs are not dramatic and it is sooo much fun to drive. the noise is just incredible.
Apart from an LMP, GT1 or F1 one of the most exciting Cars (similar to 360 GT or 458 GT2). If you have the opportunity to get one with history, do it. ;-)

you can get a car for about 120K EUR, without famous racing history and without latest updates, maybe 2006/2007 spec. and without spare parts. or you can find a latest version 2010 spec, raced by famous drivers for 300K. all the other cars are somewhere in between...
