Hi Daniel, I am based at the Vierwaldstättersee im Kt. Schwyz happy you like my little project, I always liked to see if someone posted rebuilding stories and thought its maybe worth to share a few pictures.
well, not all done yet I have to say that I had a lot of spare parts like all coolers, new gearbox internals, seats, windows, sensors, wheel bearings, brake discs, etc. which I purchased together with the car and used for rebuilding. If I had to buy everything new, it would have ended up somewhere close to 80k I guess.
so it was time to bring her back to her natural Environment... track day in Monza. after adjusting electronics and clutch, car runs absolutely perfect. powerfull engine, not a single Problem. photocredit goes to romeoimages.com Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
some more from the Royal Park of Monza. some small details needs to be done, all cosmetic stuff. also tailor made flight cases to carry the spare parts etc. photocredit to romeoimages.com Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Great project and great to see this beautiful car running again. Enjoy and have fi out there. Well done!
WOW, thats not bad at all i think fr everything that you have done to the car... Thanks for the insight. when my one family member blew the motor on his 360, because he didnt warm it up properly, just floored it from cold, it cost him a tad over EUR50k (R500k+ here in South Africa) to have the engine rebuilt. so i reckon ur rebuild is not bad at all... well done for eveything you have done on the car. truly good stuff..
In the middle of the front-bumper the Scuderia accelerates an air column under the floor to the diffuser. How does handle the F430 GT3 the airflow in the front? Is the whole air passing through the hood and over the car to the rear wing or is he doing both?
the underfloor is absolutely flat, the air goes thru the bonnet where the water cooler is mounted. Car produces massive downforce with this, the winglets, diffusor and the huge wing. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
in the middle of the front, you can see another wing, this is to guide and control the air flow. the wing produces additional downforce and helps to get the air flow more controlled thru the water cooler unit. it also reduces turbulences. Thank you very much Christoph for your explanation an all the pictures, perfect! Very interesting to see the big differences between a Scuderia and its real "racing brother". I assume that the air ducts on the left and right side (where the water cooling units from the Scuderia are located) are closed for a more efficient aerodynamic?!
No there are open and used for Brake Cooling, air gets thru the ducts in front bumber and via 2 tubes direct to the back side of the brake discs. you can see the Exit in the Picture. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hi Christoph, whats the weight of the car ready to race with full tank no driver ? Horsepower ? Great project! Andi
Hi Andy Car weights 1250 kg according to the FIA GT3 reglementation, Horsepower approx. (official) 550 hp, depends on Fuel and Air Restrictors. I run the car without restrictors and 102 RON Fuel. So maybe a few horses more . We will test 105 RON in one of our next tests.
Hello Christoph Wow, what a great project! Have fun with the beauty! Regards from Dietikon, Zurich HP Hanspeter Strehler Motorsport
Christoph, thanks for sharing your rebuild. What did they find that required the crankshaft and rods (all 8?) to be replaced? Was there a rod bearing failure??
we haven't been sure about the milage of the engine or what was really done at the last rebuild (it was done before I owned the car), and some of the valves looked not in best condition, so I decided to replace anything what "moves". So new Pistons, Valves, crankshafts, rods....
Hi there, I am currently trying to source parts to rebuild the engine in a f430 gt3 Would you be able to advise a source for a engine rebuild kit? Kind Regards
Christoph, Want an excellent project. All Ferrari cars are special but my preference is with the race cars and what you have done is just awesome. Thank you for keeping it where it belongs- on a racetrack instead of a display collection. Good luck and enjoy your very special car!
