Hello everyone I have the start up and drive sequence to prep my f430 for smog. I was curious if anybody on here has aftermarket headers and exhausts like the s-line and passed without issues?

    Thank you !!!

From what I last knew about the California test if all the monitors are set and Its not setting CELs it will pass the functional test.

Aftermarket headers should fail the visual if you have a Star certified testing requirement.

This is correct. Some will do a real thorough inspection and use a stick with a mirror to look for CARB numbers on specific parts like headers. No CARB number showing the part is California approved, no pass. Some will not be as diligent and will just look for the presence of some type of cats and O2 sensors. It is a risk. There is a whole state referee process if you fail a visual which requires you to make the car CARB compliant. In CA, in most cases, that means returning the car to stock.

I was just told (smog shop worker) that older cars with low miles will get flagged for the STAR smog checks since CA wants them off the road. I was curious why my 996TT always is STAR on renew.

Last time I brought in the F430 those folks did pull out the mirrors. Anyone with aftermarket engine panels should buy the needed emission sticker to add to the left side panel to stay compliant.

I would recommend getting friendly with a local mechanic that is STAR certified. I used the same guy that services my daily drivers and random cars to smog my F430 when I brought it into California. We basically just chatted while he hooked it up to a computer and admired the engine for a bit. Nothing rigorous. Having spent money with him over the years I'm sure helped out.
