Hi guys I have the valvetronic IPE exhaust on my F430. The valve on the left side is stuck open and will not close. As much as I love the sound with the valves open I’m not sure the neighbors share the same opinion When I press the remote control, the actuator will move by a few mm. I guess this indicates that electronics and vacuum is working as it should? The car was just in annual service and there were no errors logged. I am able to press the actuator and close the valve manually. The valve also had some squeaking noise when moving it manually. I put some WD40 in there and it removed the noise and actually made it move smoother, but still not enough to close the valve. The force to manually close the right hand side and left hand side now feels about the same. Reading around in forums (not ferrari or IPE exclusive) indicates this is a common issue with valvetronic exhausts. Did anyone in here experience similar issues? Any thoughts on how to fix it without changing the whole muffler?
Get a length of hose plus some tube connectors and cross connect the vac hoses to see if the fault follows
If you look on the engine diagram on eurospares, it shows the vacuum lines from the engine to the valves. You might have a leak on the vac lines
Not sure on those exhausts but most valves have adjustment threads on them. Like the threads on a bolt/nut combo. Maybe over time they need a clock turn adjustment.
Hey guys, i’m experiencing the same thing. I installed F430 tips on my 360 but the right hand side valve is stuck open. I crossed the lines over from the left hand valve to test the right side valve and i’m still experiencing the same thing on the right hand valve. It’s operating slightly but just seems like it needs some adjustment or a slight bit more pressure to close it. Pretty sure i’m getting proper “sucking” pressure out of both sides at idle. Can somebody clue me in on where/how to adjust the valves properly? Thank you in advance Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
Fortunately I found the solution to my issue. The actuator was bad so I ordered a replacement on amazon and replacing it fixed the issue. You can try disconnecting the vacuum wires, manually pressing the valve arm down and then holding your finger over the hole were the wire connects. Release the valve arm and see how it behaves vs the side that works fine. The valve arm should stay in place by the vacuum created. Hope that helps
Wow thank you so much. That was the exact issue. The valve arm does not stay in place when plugged. Now to find a replacement.. thank you!! Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
