I recently bought my 2006 F430. It came with a spare key that was still in the package. It doesn’t deactivate the immobilizer, so the car won’t start. The outer package says blank key, but the inside key wrapper has my VIN on it. Dealer says it was with the car and they didn’t order it. I saw YouTube video and managed to program it to lock and unlock the doors, but not start the car. Any ideas on next steps? Does this look like it came from Ferrari? Should it work? Help appreciated! Maybe a replacement key the previous owner ordered but never had programmed? Might want to look into pairing a new key with the ECU.

Can you turn the key when is into the ignition lock or the door lock?

Yes, it will turn in the ignition lock and the electronics will come on. It will turn in the door locks. It just doesn’t disable the immobilizer.

The new key and code card were purchased at a Ferrari dealership (see Dealer number 100006860 on the key bag label), but must have not been programmed.
a Ferrari dealership or independent shop with a Ferrari specific diagnostic tool (SD3,SDX, DEIS, Leonardo, etc.) will be able to program the key so that it will start the car.
Note that you will need the code card and any other keys that will be used with the car. If a key is not present during the program procedure, it will be excluded from the immobilizer.

Thanks! That’s exactly what I needed to know. I do have the key card and another key that works. Appreciate the help!

If you look at the bag that the code card came in, it is dated: 06-10-24, so whoever Ferrari dealer 100006860 is, they ordered it fairly recently.
Your dealership should have a list of Ferrari dealer codes. If they don't, FNA should be able to tell them who 100006860 is. You could then call them to find out more information on your car.
Did you not get old service records with your car? They should also have the dealer code on them.

Thanks, very helpful! Service records I have are all non-dealer. I’ll reach out.
