    Hello Folks,

Trying to change up all my o-rings and the filter associated with the 19mm oil drain plug on my F430. Anyway, I cannot get the lock ring off. It just spins and there are no circlip holes to grab on to. Any ideas on how to get the lock ring out?

    Thanks!

Probably not the 'right way' to do it, but my method is to use a flat head screwdriver on one side of the circlip to hold it in place and prevent movement. Grab the other side with a needle nose pliers, or alternatively, use another flat head screwdriver to pop it out. Just don't be brutal with the tools or surrounding materials. The circlip is harder than the surrounding housing.

Not going to lie, it was a bit of a bastard. When I finally got it, it was simple. What worked for me were two medium sized screw drivers…. I.e. they were both about the same size, each about 2/3rds the width between the clip ends. I put the first one on one end, and leveraged the second on the side of the first. Also what helped was my second screw driver has a warped flat head…. Which made it easier. Working with really small screw drivers did not work.

Question, the white stuff…… are we supposed to remove it and add a gasket maker adhesive? Technically the first line of defence is the green gasket, but I figure the white stuff should probably be removed, then reapplied.

FYI for others, I removed the white stuff with a plastic squeegee one uses for applying paint protection film and a white eraser. Going to add Hondabond HT. I have the high temp Permatex Copper, but wanted to keep it white.
