As I await the results of the PPI being conducted on "my" 2008 F430 Spider (I feel like an expectant Father), I'm wondering about long distance driving in an F430. Is it common among 430 owners?

How many 430 owners have gone on a long journey with their cars and what was the distance for the trip? 500 miles? 1000 miles? 2000 miles?

    I'm curious to know.

There are a few threads on this subject. Drive as far as you want. The car can handle it. Your ass will be sore for sure. Beware rock chips. I went to SC and back. Came home with 200 plus rock chips.

I won't drive mine that far again unless its on mountain roads.

Well, from a 360 driver, in the 14 months we have owned the car, we have gone on a half-a-dozen road trips. Longest 1800 miles, shortest 500 miles. Pacific Coast Highway has been the favorite with trips to Oregon, Monterey and Santa Barbara. Phoenix for baseball spring training in the other direction, with side trips to Sedona and Zion National Park.

I've posted on this before, but the biggest surprise we had was what a great GT car the 360 is. Super comfortable, holds a lot of luggage and "stuff", and of course great to drive. We have a nice cushy BMW, but about four hours in it is enough for me. I can drive the 360 all day, and I am not small at 6'4", 235 lbs.

We live in the mountains so lots of two lane twisties, which I love. The road trips with the wife, though, have been really great. We bought a nice set of leather luggage for the car from PIEL. Two suitcases, garment bag, and duffels for behind the seats. Perfect fit and we can load the car and be off in a flash.

My only caution on these trips is lack of a spare. I carry a plug kit, a can of "Slime" and an inflator. No trouble so far.

Congrats on the new car. Hope you enjoy it as much as we have.

    Cheers, Andy

Andy - your post made my day. 👍. Congrats on your 360. Great to read about people actually driving them. I can't believe how many uber low mile Ferrari's I came across in my search. One F430 had three owners and only 1500 miles. What the heck? Is there some secret Ferrari high school I'm not aware of, one where you will get a wedgy and thrown in the locker if you drive it too much?

I picked up my O8 in Ft Lauderdale and drove it 700 miles home to NC. Unfortunately, about half the drive was in horrendous rain but the car handled fine- although my nerves would've been happy for me to pull off the road and wait out the storm!

I was quite surprised with the comfort level. I made the trip an overnighter- drove about 7 hours the first day and the remaining 4 the next day. No issue with back or butt! ;-)

Nice! Congrats. In your research did you come across any concerns regarding the fire issue I mention in another thread?

Are you still loving the car?

430 is great for long drives. We did FL to NC and while there did some spirited mountain drives. What a blast. Agree with the comments about low miles--

I bought mine in LA and drive it to San Francisco. I thought it's really comfy. Although it is a bit loud for my taste :)

I drove my 05 430 spider from Ontario, Canada to Wilmington NC. Approx 2,200 miles round trip. About 17 hours each way. The car just gobbles up the miles. No back pain. No butt pain. It was a great trip.

I took delivery and drove it 400 miles to home. It is comfortable than my 997.2 C4S or CS.

My problem, no cup holder and no cruise control. If it had a cruise control, I woul dhave driven it more in long trips.

I'm with you on the cup holder! I picked one up on ebay that works well.
