So, I live at the beach in so cal, and my garage is at the rear of the house which is accessible only via an alley. There are actually 3 different entrances to get into and out of the alley, but I am extremely concerned that none of these will be at a low enough angle to allow me to get in and out without scraping. Any opinions on his one. Outside of testing one out, I am not sure how I am going to determine this prior to purchase. Anyone with a stock F430 live in the OC area mind testing it out one day soon for me?

I know this isn't exactly what you asked for but if you find the car won't clear there are two suspension options Novitec and Roberuta.

They have a front end lift system that we sell.

We are located in Gilbert Az, if you get the car to us would be:

$9450 for the Novitec HLS installed.

Roberuta kit would be $9100 installed

Why not post a few pics of the incline? Most of us have a very good idea about what our cars are capable of clearing from personal experience.

Which porsche did you have previously?

In my experience the 430 clearance is quite similar to the 996 C4S/Turbo lip (a non-widebody lip is different). A friend of mine had his driveway repaved so he wouldn't have to angle his 996 turbo S in and the 430 just clears that lip.

I had a 996, regular C2, but I sold that car before building my current house...I will take some pics...is the 458 about the same as the regular F430...i have a friend in HB who would bring his over and test it (without the lift activated)...

Looking at those pictures I would say no chance... but my car is a Euro car and I think is lower than the US spec.

You won't have any problems. Just go slow and at angle if you can. Unlowered 430 front end is not that low (4" min.).

I think you're fine. I have skid plates on mine and only used them once at low speed in a driveway so next time I went in I did so at a slight angle and was fine. How much height difference vs distance?

+1. The first pic looks alot like my alley entrance. The second pic looks steeper but its nice and wide so you have room to angle in. Pretty sure you'll be fine with a stock US ride height.

I agree with the majority of posters who say you can make it. There is a "technique" you will learn soon after buying your car. Basically, you approach the entrance parallel to the road and gently drive up onto the incline, followed by a a hard turn 90 degrees into the alley. If you approach the entrances head on you will scrape.

Going up the ramp is easier to me then going down one. I think you will make it up NP if you are careful, but down might be cutting it close.

FLU, I agree, I think coming down the "hill" will be the difficult part...I guess I will have to see what happens after getting the car...I have had low cars before and my wife has a G35 coupe which is pretty low as well, and she does okay with the angled incline and decline in and out of the driveways...

If you could reverse out of it, you wouldn't have any problems. If your garage is not right after the entrance, then it'd be a hassle. But you could manage before installing a lift kit. Good luck.

My situation is far worse and I can avoid scrapes. Go all the way to one side and cut the corner at a 45 degree angle instead of going over the bump head on. This way, the outer tire will raise the car first before the nose gets hits the uprise.

Get the skid plates from Premier and go slowly at an angle = no worries.

You will only scrape the underside of the front dam anyway, it happens! Wait til you start running over small dead animals, or fanging it over rough roads and knocking off the aero panels underneath. Don't worry about it, just buy the car.

My driveway is a little worse then your alley entry and I can just make it without scraping by going slowly at a 45 degree entry/exit in my 430S (I do have skid plates by the way--highly recommended). Having said that, my buddy scraped both sides of his 430 Spider when he came over and will not park in my driveway again.

How much are skid plates including installation and who does them in the OC?
