I am looking at purchasing an F430 by the time santa rolls around this year. I am looking at a 2006 w/ 30k mi. vs. a 2005 w/ 10k mi. Both are at Ferrari Dealers and both are certified so all records are present and maintenance performed. Because 2005 is the first year of the model, I am thinking it is better to get any year after that first year, even if there are more miles on the later model car. Lastly, what do you guys think the dollars translate into for miles and year...Meaning is a car 1 year newer worth about $5k more? And does every 1000mi. on the Odometer translate to about $1000 in depreciation on the F430's? Thanks for whatever input you provide. The dealer is asking about $15k more for the 2005 with the 10k mi. or less on it...Both are silverstone and both interiors are acceptable (black or tan) everything is the same!
    Thanks.

Difficult question. First off, I can tell you that 05s are very reliable. I've had one since new. There are a bunch of TSBs that you can have the dealer check to see that they were done. Both years would be subject to exhaust manifold failure. The 30K 06 has probably had the update already, the 05 maybe, maybe not. Check the records. If I were looking for a used 430, 05 or 06 would be of little relevance. I'd go for the one I like.

Any 430 with 30K would be considered quite high mileage and I think the depreciation per mile is more than $1 so probably a difficult sell. The vast majority of used buyers would rather pony up another 10-20K for the low mileage car.

    Good luck,
    Dave

30k miles is too high in my book to even consider. After you use it for a few years it will have 45-60k +++ Going to be a very hard sell.

Are you saying that as a current or former Ferrari owner ? If not (your posts seem to be about whether a brand new Porsche turbo will be fast enough) perhaps your answer is slightly less than relevant to OP

Sooner or later almost all cars have more than 30 000 miles - even Ferraris

    Interesting choices!
What I'd do is select neither but do more homework and research on all of the available market in the US wide.
Be patient is the key as a gem will no doubt surface which might be the same asking dollars but a later model with the low kms.

That is what I made happen with my purchase....all the alternatives had up to 11,000kms on average, older, lesser spec features (very basic), hugely more expensive and the one I bought had only 3,300 kms on it....woohoo!
