I always check oil levels after a service as I was told overfilling was a common problem and not good.

Most recent service the oil level was roughly 1/4 inch above high mark on dip stick.
Warn car running while checked. Should I pull a little oil out or is this still acceptable.

I would remove some oil. On a very hot day or a hard drive, the oil may go into the intakes.
I’ve heard of too many problems arising from the oil being overfilled. Keep it somewhere between the fill and full mark.
Did a dealership give your car back to you that way?

Yea..that is too much. Correct fill level is between the min and max mark on the stick.

You will have to remove it with a baster or suction pump while running unless you want to drain it from below.Do you know how much was put in? Mine takes exactly 10 quarts and it places the level between the marks when hot. It was grossly overfilled at 11 qts.
