I know they are definitely different and the decision is made. I just want to know what others think. One condition that might be interesting though, the prices are about the same! Hard to say if the F430 is overpriced or the 575M HGTC is underpriced. I have no idea about that really.

The 430 retails around $200K. The 575 GTC starts in the upper $200Ks, $270+. The GTC is a $20K option.

Ultimately, they're both superb, but different. If I could only have one, however, I would take the 430. It does everything the 575 does and much that it does not. The Manettino makes a brilliant difference.

But I could easily see having both.

Let me make myself a little bit clearer about prices. I mean they are really about the same in the country I am in. I know they are different in most other countries. That's why I asked for you guys' thought. If the prices are the same, what would be your decision?

    BTW, thanks Cavallini.

Wait for the Maranello replacement. It will be out in less then a year. They are saying 600 bhp, Enzo Ferrari derived V12!!!! Thats a car....

Agreed. Why go for a hopped up 575 when you can either wait or get the latest and greatest in a F430. What county do you live in?

I agree with you, but a lot depends on what the new car looks like. If it looks like a clone of the 612, no thanks, extra power and all.

According to what I have read, it will share NO body panels with the 612 Scagleitti. It will be a much more aggressive design. And with a apx. 600 bhp Enzo Ferrari derived V12, it will be a monster....

I wouldn't worry, the 2-door always looks more aggressive and better.
Just look at the 456 to 550/575 differences. Ferrari has already said it
will be more aggressive looking, I can't wait to see it.

I think the Maranello replacement will be MUCH more agressive (this is purely opinion).

I think they will try to remove the similarities between the 575 and 456. They have made the 612 a TOTAL grand tourer (That happens to accelerate and handle well), so I think the 600/whatever will be MUCH more aggressive than the current 575.

The 575 HGTC has received a number of very favorable reviews. If you order one now, I assume you'd be driving it in relatively short order (please correct me if I'm wrong). Tremendous torque, great handling & practical (trunk + rear shelf space). Not arguing against the F430 - a stunning car. As always, comes down to what you like and perhaps how long you're willing to wait.

I see, apologies for the misunderstanding. LOL.
If only one, I'd take the 430. Until the 600 comes out, and aside from the Enzo, it is the peak of modern Ferraris.

You sound like you've already made the choice. Which did you choose?

Im a little biased towards 12 cyl, but i would say wait till you see the 600 Imola in person then make your descion. If you dont like it, i would go for the 575 6-speed with the handaling package.

Cavallini : Yes, the decision is made. I just want to hear some thought from you guys. I myself don't like the 430 very much especially the exterior. The interior is okay tough. Here in Thailand I was told that of the 10 car quota, 8 was already sold. So any order put in now will probably be getting the car sometime toward the end of next year. The 575M on the other hand will be arriving in a couple of months. (So the wait is rather long for the F430 WCH.)

I myself prefer the calmness of the 575M look. Reading some reviews, I haven't found any unfavourable one. The only possibility of a negative review probably is the increase harshness of the ride due to the HGTC packaging. However, reviewers seemed to have mix feeling about this. If any of you guys have direct experience comparing the regular 575M with the HGTC, please let me know. Thanks in advance.

Seeing the 612 in person, I think it looks okay but it's a very big car! The car looks very fat and soft to me. Perhaps too soft to be a Ferrari. The 456 it replaced was much more agile and elegant. The way the 430 comes out makes me think that Ferrari is not afraid to let its cars grow in size. I am afraid the 575M replacement will probably take the same route. The 575M is already a classic to my eyes.

Sometime a big engine with a lot of hp doesn't mean a lot when there are many restrictions like road condition, traffic, etc. I think anything between 500-550 hp is the best. Anything bove that begins to not making sense here. European countries or US will be different though. Road condition and other factors will allow the owners to use their cars' hp much more entensively.

At last, considering for the practically the same amount of money a V12 seems to make more sense. Together with the fact that the F430 doesn't impress me all that much, I decided to go with the 575M. That is if the dealer gives me the deal I am looking for. If not, I'll probably be stuck with my G for another year or so.

Sorry I didn't have any photo, but the only difference from a 575M is the wheels. GTC package comes with a 19" modular wheels. Oh, and the carbon brakes may be spotted if you look close enough. Other than these I don't think there is any other visual differences at all.

Actually those wheels are an option on any 575M Maranello.
The only visual differences are the brakes and the sport exhaust.

If you like the smooth ferocity of the 575 more than the outright aggression of the 430, then the 575 GTC definitely makes more sense. It is the peak of the eight year old 550 platform. It will definitely be a collector's item. Resale should remain strong as well.

By G, do you mean Gallardo? That's an interesting comparison because the Gallardo is even more aggressive than the 430, to my eyes at least. What were/are your views on the Gallardo?

Cavallini, the G is quite a stunning car. I used a 360M for a while and didn't like the way it's front end behaved. The G on the other hand is very stable and quick but somewhat less alive comparing to the 360M. Maybe becuase of its 4-wheel drive set up. The G accelerate more violently than 360M, tracks better, and faster at the top speed end. It doesn't sound the same though. The G has that deeper roar and much quieter than the 360M at idle. I have ordered the Tubi but it never arrived. I was supposed to arrive a few weeks ago but didn't.

I didn't use either as a day to day car so I don't have that comparison. Sorry.

I was actually in love with the color, it's that special pearl orange with glass engine bonnet, of the car. However, the interior is nowhere near what the Ferrari has. I guess it's the color that sold me when I first saw the G. Now that I've used it for a while I know what kind of attention it gets, I start to have second thought already.

My experience with the G has been very good. The only reason I am thinking about switching back to Ferrari is because I found out that the attention the G draws is way too much for me. Everytime I stop in a traffic, I was like a strange looking animal at the circus. I'd prefer to be in a car that is more calm and subtle now. I think the 575M will be exactly what I want.

BTW, The G will be on the market regardless of whether or not I get the 575M now or something else later. Sorry to part with it though.

Interesting (and surprising to me) comment on the front end behaviour. Exactly what were you experiencing? I've been very impressed with my 360's handling, especially the front end. After driving a lot of understeering cars (M3, 911) I was overjoyed to find my 360 turns in with great precision, definitely the best balanced car I've ever driven on the street or track.

My thoughts exactly, after driving both cars the 360 handles much better then the G. The AWD of the G pushes and takes away the balance and finesse. The average driver might prefer the G, because it is easier to drive. A driver with experience will prefer the 360 as do I.

I found that my finding of the front end behavior to be a bit naughty was a surprise in the first place too. After asking around, I found that many other owners of the 360M here felt the same thing. I guess that maybe because the way the aerodinamic is set up based almost solely on that plate covering the car underpin. On a flat surface with very little pot holes and wavering surfaces, the car will perform very nicely with a very quick turn in in a corner. I like the car in the corner as well but on a straight at high speed is where the problem is.

The road here will not allow the aerodinamic set up of the car to work properly. The car will keep popping up and down due to poor road surface. Thus the front end never bites. Unfortunately, the road I always use has this problem. I don't find the car to be a problem on a track but I go to track day only once or twice a year while I drive the car on an average roads every weekend.

All this is just my 2 cents. One other reason for sure is that I am not that good a driver myself. My feeling toward the car handling and characteristic may be different from others due to less experience or whatever. But that was how I felt the car handled.

Are you sure? I'd read that there are specially developed P-Zero Corsas for the 575HGTC. The 19" in the 575M only had P-Zero Rossos. Be interesting to see the factory brochures and specs for the car to be sure.
