F430 price going to hold or will it drop more since 488 is out and more 458 produced than 430?
Will continue to depreciate for another 5 years in my opinion. Not more than a new 3 series BMW though.
I am not Nostradamus but sure it will depreciate a little further as piles of 458 will hit the secondary market and small numbers of 488 will be seen as well. HOWEVER, 430 will not depreciate like Aston Martin... For a Ferrari? I do not think it will depreciate like Cali. Sorry for the Cali owners but that is what I actually see in the market.
I don't think the availability of 488 will do much to the value of 430s. It's not like the 488 is the successor to the 430.
IMHO the 348, 355, 360, 430, 458, 488 etc are all the "sports car" of the Ferrari lineup. They are the "quintessential Ferrari". The cali, V12's, etc. all don't hold their value as well as the V8 sports cars. I don't think it will lever depreciate as fast as an Aston. The provenance won't allow it. Your average Joe doesn't know what an Aston is, but they know what a Ferrari is. As long as the 488 is priced higher and higher it will keep 430 values up. I'll give it a couple years. The rub is why would I want an F1 (note not manual) 430 when I can buy a 458? Better transmission, better handling, better everything.
That is not the "rub", the answer of course is that the F430 is cheaper than the 458. And if money is not an issue And let's please don't go into the 458 is the last of the normally aspirated mid engine blah blah and other possible speculative reasons.
I don't think you'll see the 430's dip quite as much as the 360 simply because it's cheaper to service. Since the 360's appear to be bottoming, the 430's may depreciate a bit more, but not much IMO.
Nice 430's have not depreciated in the last 3 years, Nice 360's not much either. iMH0 you are losing way more money on your daily drivers.
The 430 will continue to drop as more 458s hit the market (many listed on this forum). I for one, don't think I would get a 430 as I believe the 458 is a far better car (no insult to 430 owners here). When the price delta gets smaller, some people will skip it. But really who knows, just speculation here.
As the 488 hype dies down they will be able to be had at MSRP and below... The 458's will continue to drop... the F430's will drop to sub 100k levels with the exception of 6 MT stick shift cars, scuds, and super low mileage examples. This wont happen overnight, but it will happen.
Ha ha. Of course the 458 is a far better car than the F430. However...the 458's are usually priced well over 200K USD. Many are like over 250K. So the question become is the 458 100K+ USD better than the F430? For those who have the money...of course...but those are on a tighter budget...probably not. IMO...there is room for depreciation on the 458 but not necessarily much. Keep in mind that the 458 is naturally aspirated (NA) which revs to 9,000 rpm. The car has 570hp which is stupid fast for the weight of the car. We are in a different era related to cars. There is probably no returning to full naturally aspirated high performance vehicles. With the EPA fuel mandate most cars are going forced induction or hybrid.
In my opinion, I do not feel the 430 will drop much with relation to the 488. The 458 will definitely drop more. It has been stable for a while now. The 360's have also stabilized. Buy them now and enjoy them. You'll lose more Money on your daily driver than a 430.
Just extrapolate what the 458 release did to the 360...not much. 360's are at a nadir and 430's are close. History repeats itself. Sent from my 16M
I agree with those that think the 430 is at or near the bottom--so much car for near $100K, and very few good alternatives at this price. I don't expect a big run up in values, but I did not see it for the 308/328 cars.......
I've only seen high mileage (>20,000 miles) 458s sell for under $200. The second the low-moderate examples dip to $200 or less I'm picking one up (somehow doubt this will happen) Throw in an exhaust system, tune and stickier Cup2 tires, and you have a car just as fast as a stock Speciale but at half the price. The leap from 360-CS-F430-Scuderia was huge compared to 458-Speciale, it's in a world of diminishing returns, so I see the 458 holding value. Ferrari made a lot of them but at the right price point, there are many buyers / value seekers to meet the supply. So I don't see 488 sales impacting 430s. I don't believe ppl who are shopping for a 488 are the same people shopping for an F430. Ppl considering the 488 might look at a 458 but highly unlikely to look at an F430. I also don't believe ppl looking at a 458 are the same ppl looking at an F430 because the 458s are still close or more than double the price. I believe current F430 owners are the ones looking to upgrade to 458s. There are also many who consider the base 458 to be arguably the better looking and sounding (pre-11) version than the Speciale, whereas if you compare 360-cs and F430-scuderia, many if not all, will agree the lightweight variant is the better looking sibling.
ya, Im not sure I see normally aspirated as being more desirable in the same way I wouldnt say carbureted are that much more desirable over EFI- except when the efi model is a dud. I don't expect 430s to come down too much more in price. they'll likely always have a premium of 20% or so over similar 360's.
nice example for <$190k Used 2010 FERRARI 458 ITALIA For Sale | Upper Saddle River NJ | VIN: ZFF67NFA3A0174814 I've been watching the 458 market ever since i sold mine. prices are dropping and I imagine will keep doing down further once winter rolls around.
As of now, the 458 market rarely has a specimen listed for less than $175, and those are usually 10/11s. You can find numerous well sorted examples of 430s in the $110-$130 range, and even less when you go for more of a "driver". Even with more downward pressure on the 458 market as the owners upgrade to 488, I would still be very surprised to see the gap between 458 to 430 shrink meaningfully in the next 2+ years. The day 458s get in the low $100s, I'll start seriously considering one.... But until then I think I'll be just fine with my "cheap" 360. But I'll be very surprised to see that day in the next 5-10 years.
IMO F1 F430 will be book-ended by the 360s (F1) and 458s. There will be buyers who prefer 360 to 430 and 430 to 458 but the number will be too few to make any bump in the market price.
I believe the price delta between the 430 and 458 will continue to shrink. 458s will pick off buyers who would have purchased a 430 and drive 430 prices downward, not to mention 430 owners upgrading. Where the price difference needs to be is an unknown (guessing 30-40k). We will see in a few years or less.
No offense, but all the shrinking I have seen in the last 3 years has been from the 458 with nice 360 and 430 leveled off I don't see that much more drop in the 458 coupe, maybe the spider will continue down for awhile longer (its dropped from low 300's to $269-$279K in the last 2.5 years. Waiting and wishing for 360,430,458 to drop way down is a foolish buyers wish but not based on reality. Drive em if you got one, get one if you can afford one, now not 3-6 years from now! Life is Short! Enjoy the RIDE!
You misunderstand, I wouldn't trade my CS for a 458, I'm not waiting for them to come down to buy, just observing and predicting. I could get one if I wished.
Of course the price delta between the F430 and 458 will shrink. The 458 is a new model and there is still room for it to come down but I seriously don't think by much. I also don't think the price of the F430 will drop either. You have to ask yourself this...what other car can you get for this particular price. Here is an example...a new Porsche Carrera S goes for like 125K ? The new generation is also turbo charged also. It has only 420hp but acceleration from 0-60 is similar to an F430 but beyond 60mph up to around 130 mph the F430 is still much faster. The same for the 458...what other car can a person by new for let's say 175K which will perform better than and give you an experience like a Ferrari 458? The thing is with all these newer cars like the 488 or McClaren or Lambo or is that all those new cars are well over 300K.
