hi -my 2009 Scud is currently running Pirelli P Zero Corsas 235/25/19 front and 285/35/19 rear. The tires are down to around 3/32 - and so it's time for replacement. I have read some good reviews in favor of the Michelin Pilot Super Sports - but have seen recommendations for both a 235/35 and 245/35 front (the latter being better at reducing understeer) - and similarly both 295/35/19 AND 295/30/19 have been discussed as options for the rear. Only thing is the 295/35s are hard to find, and I've been told that the 295/30s don't have enough sidewall thickness to ideally handle the Scud's load factor. And then, there have been big recommendations for Bridgestone RE11s. What to do?? I have found that the Corsa tires really need to be warmed up before they get "sticky" - making them not ideal for day to day road use, and the 235 Corsa fronts do tend to understeer. I do not spend alot of time on the track - so looking for the best everyday alternative. All-in, I would prefer to change out the Pirellis if it makes overall sense. Any advice, thoughts appreciated!
My were changed during the recall campaign with PP Zeros (they are junk); I replaced those with BS RE-11s....good street tire and price is reasonable.
Tobyc1, I have a slightly used about 500 miles on MPSS size 235-35/19 and 295-35/19. If you are interested just PM me for more information.
I replaced the Pirelli P Zero Corsas on my 2008 Scud with Michelin Pilot Super Sports. I put 245Rx35x19s on the front and 295x35x19s on the rear. They are far better than the Corsas on both the street and the track. The slightly larger size than the originals works much better. I would not hesitate to get them again. Don't know how they compare with the R11s, but I thought Bridgestone had replaced the R11 with a new model.
Just put on Michelin SS's on my LP560 - wanted to try them after the P Zeros were due for change after 2 years of track days. The SS's are far superior in every respect. The SS's feel much more response on turn in; and under acceleration they seem to have a more immediate response. Fantastic grip. Also very smooth and quiet ride compared to the Pirellis. No regrets whatsoever. Highly recommend them.
Anyone try the the Contis ? If you do not track the car, seem like decent options and are available, and save some $$$.....
Hi I put some Pilot Super Sports on my F430 and stuck with the standard tyre sizes. They are absolutely fabulous. The grip is prenominal and I get a lot more steering feedback even in the wet..........I do live in UK so need good wet tyres !!! Simon
I was looking into this as a Scuderia I am looking to purchase will need fresh rubber.. I seem to be able to find Michelin Super Sports in the standard OE sizes : 235/35 R19 Y 91 285/35 R19 Y 103 So it should be a no-brainer to go for these.. or am I missing something..
Short answer: Yes and no, respectively. Long answer: Use the search function and you will see many threads on this exact topic. Most of us are big fans of the MPSS and the RE-11. Folks that track a lot are starting to use the Trofeo R. There are occasional other posts for a few other tires. Search for threads/posts by F430GT for the most comprehensive side-by-side, first-hand comparisons.
I have found the RE-11s to be a good street tire. Also very reasonably priced. The Ps which originally came with the car are junk.
I should have pointed out.. looking for a good street tire, which can perform okaish on track at 7/10.. not planning to thrash the car.. From what I have read indeed from the other posts MPSS should fit the bill. As I want to keep things standard I think front at 235 would be the only option
I think you would benefit from going to 245/35-19 front and keeping 285/35-19 at the rear. The new Michelin Pilot sport cup 2 looks promising, that is what I am putting on in a few weeks. Should be a perfect combo for trac and street.
Yes.. they come as OE fitment on 90pct of the 991 GT3 - of which I have one on order - I have read mostly good things.. and of course the off bad one amongst which performance in cold weather and/or standing water.. after all they are CUP tyres.. I'll have a look, they did not come up as available for those sizes here in the UK through my main search engines yet..
