    Hey Everyone!
I wanted to share my experience when looking for a subwoofer system to install in my F430 spider. I had seen some info on FERRARICHAT about Scuderia Audio so I decided to give Mike a call. Personally I have been in the audio business over 30 years, even owning my own shop from 1983-1993. I did not want to fool with making a custom enclosure myself, I just wanted to buy one and have it installed. When I talked to Mike he was extremely knowledgeable with stereo equipment and the audio business especially with regards to installing them in Ferrari’s. After our conversation, I took a chance and man am I glad I did!! This 8” enclosure is well built, the leather upholstery is top notch, matches perfectly and oh yea....the sound...IT ROCKS!!
I’m using the JL 8” that Mike recommends and I am very impressed with everything about it. If you are considering a stereo upgrade from the crap system Ferrari installs, take a look at Mike’s website www.scuderiaaudio.com and give him a call. I shared Scuderiaaudio’s online videos with my installer and they helped save a bunch of time with the install. My installer said the install was easier than he was expecting. Please see a few attached photos.

    Hey Everyone!
Try this system tweak and you may be amazed! Adjust the subwoofer phase either 0 or 180 degrees.....on my Alpine CD149BT radio this adjustment was available, some amps offer it as well. I switched from stock 0 setting to 180 and the sub output moved to the front stage area with my components in the doors. The sub is now transparent, you do not notice the sub as playing behind you as it is. This one tweak made a huge difference in the sound stage. It sounds like my 6.5” mids are producing all of the bass when they actually are not. It’s like going to a concert and facing the band, all of the music seems to be in front of you on the stage!
Try it, if you don’t notice any difference you can always switch it back.

    Enjoy the ride!

    Thanks for sharing.

I installed JL Audio 10" 400W Powered Sub on my F430 and I am super happy and super impressed with the sound.
But I may replace that with Mike's sub enclosure as I want to retain sort of stock look.

What amp are you using to drive the subwoofer?

    Yes, the factory system blows.
It is amazing what a difference it makes replacing it for something half descent.
I am curious as to why you went with the red stitching - it seems you don't have it in your interior...?

    Hey 3point8 and Tailwag....
    3point8, thanks for the compliments....
Here are a couple pics of the interior....
What’s funny is I just sold a 03 360 that was almost identical to my new 08 430....
I don’t know why but with my 360 I have gone a entire year and only clocked 300 miles....had the 430 for two months and have logged over 1,100 miles!
So far loving the 430 spider...something about it makes me want to just drive it!!

    Enjoy the ride!

    Hey Dan!
    Hope all is well....
I saw and considered your set up, but really liked the way the 8” fit in the car. If the 8 was not enough...I was prepared to remove the storage bin that is never used and go with the (2) 8” enclosure from Mike. The (2) 8” enclosure is NOT needed.
My system in this car is very basic by design....
    Head unit: Alpine CD149BT
Speakers: Hybrid Audio Clarus 6.5 components
Sub: Scuderia Audio enclosure with 8” JL Audio sub
Amp: Arc Audio 600.4 X 2 series amp This is a brand new amp from Arc Audio. Running 150wx2 @4 ohms to comps and 300w x1 @4 ohms to the sub
I use to be the Mfg Rep for Arc Audio and many other lines. I’m very impressed with their amps!
It has a very small footprint, mounted behind the passenger seat on the slope.
    This system Rocks!!
    Take care.

Thanks for the excellent info Griffin.

    Bonus question please :)
Do you think 8" sub is powerful enough (coupled with 300W amp) for deep, tight low bass?
As I mentioned I have to 10" JL Audio powered sub and I couldnt be happier but I want to go sort of stock look so Im considering Mike's 8" subwoofer.

    Thanks!

    Hey Dan,
    Opinions are like....BUT,
I think the 10 will play a little lower but the 8 will be a little tighter bass. I can tell you the 8 is doing extremely well in my system so far.
The 8 seems to be handling the 300w and it is not broken in yet. Not that I run it full tilt....However some people only need a toggle switch for off and wide open!! I don’t drink that kool aid!! I have not heard my sub distort yet and it is plenty loud with the top down....never driven this car with top up.... I think you will be very pleased with the 8” set up, both in sound and the factory look. The leather matches purrrfectly!! Be sure to experiment with the phase switch as it made a huge difference in my set up.
Good luck if you decide to make a switch!

    Excellent info.

    Thanks Griffin!

And yes, I too always experiment with phase setting to see and hear which way it sounds best. Will do!

Mike was kind enough to reach out to me and make me an offer I cant refuse so looks like I will be trying his subwoofer set up soon.

    Thanks for the great info.

Perhaps you can shoot a quick video on how your set up sounds like?
    I posted mine here already.

    Thanks again.

Just picked mine up today from the audio shop.

Sound sgreat! Opted for the 6.5" Focals, and the 8" JL Subwoofer. Perfect amount of bass. Not too much, not too little. Also have the ARC Audio Amp.

    Perfect!

    Awesome!
Focal’s are great sounding speakers for sure!
Which Arc amp did you go with, where did you mount it?
Did you experiment with the subwoofer phase switch setting?
    Enjoy the ride!

Actually, I really need to thank you for that suggestion! When I installed, I found the bass maybe a bit boomy. I played around with a bit of settings, and, maybe just due to the location of where it is, it was a bit boomy. Coupled with my IPE Exhaust too. Then, I recalled you said move it to the front stage, and voila, it's the perfect noise for me.

I need to go back to the car this weekend and maybe adjust the Gain and what-not and set it to what Mike recommended, my shop installed it, and I haven't really played with it otherwise, was in a hurry to get the car back home and make it somewhere else.

I went with the Arc Audio KS125.4, which puts out 500W RMS. Whatever Mike recommended. I mounted it behind my passenger seat, just on the little floor "shelf" area. I never really use it anyways, and it seemed like a great place to put it.
