Gents and ladies - thinking of moving from my 2007 F430 F1 to a 2009 F430 F1 Scuderia. Have never driven one. Major impressions? Major differences (other than 200 pounds less weight and 510 HP)? Thank you.

Suspension settings, gearbox shifting speed, lack of sound insulation and catbon heaven. Plenty of differences. Night and day.

Drive one for sure before making the swap as the 'base' F430 is a fairly phenomenal car in its own right. You may find the Scud louder and stiffer than you'd like depending on your usage. Increased rawness aside, I can't see much downside other than the additional price. If you're already an F1 fan then the uprated gearbox will surely make you smile as well and the lack of a manual will not be of issue.

I made the same move you are contemplating and never looked back. The Scud is an awesome car.

I did the same thing and really love the Scuderia over the regular 430, which is a great car as well. It's just such a different car, the rawness, the sounds, the feel, the way the car and its systems work together for more performance on the track or back roads. For me the scud is not to harsh at all, I can drive it all day, especially how you can soften the suspension in race mode, perfect for back roads that are less than perfect.

That being said, a scud is not for everyone, the 430 feels downright cushy in comparison.
Its really a matter of what your looking for in your Ferrari, for me, the race car for the street is what I like.

My brother has a F430 and I have the Scuderia. I love mine and he loves his. Neither of us would switch the other. Very personal decision. If you are more of a raw feeling race car type - Scud.

yeah if luxury/leather is a must to you, don't get a Scud.

I moved from a 430 because I like the way it shift and is more "raw".

No comparison. If you like hauling ass... then the scud is your car.

I went F430 Spider to Scud Coupe... I would never go back, unless I could have both!

Biggest differences (from the driver's seat)

    - All the Carbon fiber surrounding you
    - The live feeling of the chassis, engine, and mechanical sounds
    - It feels furious at any speed, the F430 feels tame until driven beyond 6,000rpm at WOT
    - The transmission will make you fall in love, it is lighting fast, with serious kick on straight line
    - It looks a lot better from inside and outside
    - Shooting blue flames with every gear change, lovely.
    - Stiffer suspension, but very comfortable
    - acceleration difference, significant

Given the price difference these days, it is a no-brainer.

Does this happen even with stock exhaust? Since I'm always inside the car, I wouldn't know. Or only with aftermarket exhaust?

    Stock exhaust does it too.

Just drive on a dark road, point your rearview mirror so you can watch the engine, and enjoy the light show.

The first time I noticed this neat feature, I thought I had a Black/White CrownVic chasing me through Los Angeles Crest Highway, the Blue flames are that bright.

No. Shifting at high rpm does that.
