F430 to M6

There's really no comparison aside from straight line grunt.

Let's see, if the M6 is doing 0-60 in the mid 4s it's not close to the 430, which at its worst is in the high 3s. 430's 1/4 mile is around 12.0 flat at worst. I couldn't find a figure for the M6.

Check with your friends on the bimmer boards. Besides, that car is ugly, so who really cares what it's acceleration is. LOL. Only a fool would spend $100K on an M6 instead of Maserati Gransport or a used 550 or 355, hell even a 456 or a Z8 for that matter.

you cant compare these cars...f430 and M5 are totally diff imo...

 

i can imagine someone owning both a F430 and a M5 while enjoying both cars. however, an M6? i think ugly has been mentioned a few times already. i just think the 6 series is a poorly designed and built coupe.

From the test i read in Sport Auto they perform the same on 0-200.

F430 is still probably more fun, though you'll need to be a better driver to get the best out of it.
And again, you know in which you'd like to be seen

 

I saw a Top Gear video, where they tested an M6, 911 Carrera S, and AMV8 around an island road some where in Europe, the Carrera S had a faster time than both the M6 and AMV8. I know this has less to do with F430 vs M6/5, but it shows that the Carrera S, with 355 some horse power can beat an M6 with 550 horse power or so around a set course. But , the F430 and M6 are two differant cars.

The M6 "just" has 507 hp.

The 997 is a good 640 pounds lighter than the M6, which is something of a porker at 3769 pounds.

 

Dont know about the M6, but clarkson in his new DVD Heaven or Hell, puts a M5 up against a F430, the F430 just blitzed the track while the M5 was having a hard time getting the power down. Also noted is the M5 the most annoying car in the world becuase of all the little things, most because of the iDrive, unless you push the little M Button of the steering wheel...then it becomes one of the most fantasic cars out there..but there is just no comparison, the F430 is just amazing, 99.9 percent of the cars out there cant touch it.

On Jeremy Clarkson's Heven and Hell DVD they put the new M5 and the F430 side by side from a stand still on a track. The 430 killlllls it, by far.

I raced against an M5 before and I was in my E55. We were dead even. Unlike what some people and videos are claiming, my E55 kept up pretty well with the new M5. I was even half of a car up front up to 120km/h then we were REALLY neck to neck. A lot of those videos are filming a rolling start acceleration. An M5 could beat an E55 from a standing start.

On the other hand, my E55 couldn't keep up with an F430. I drove 4 different F430's and the E55 didn't manage to beat any of them. I wonder how the M5/M6 could keep up with the F430.

The internet is full of cr*p and I learned to try everything myself instead of reading what other (untrustworthy and biased) people have to say.

 

Silly comparison to begin with,one guy has a Supermodel wife ,the other has a world class Chef who also happens to be great in bed.

First of all I will say that I´m really in love with ferrari.
M5 and M6 are both wonderfull cars and in some point in my opinion u can compare them with an F430. For instance making a trip to somewhere about 300-400 miles away, I think to make that often the M6 is more comfortable and easy going car and in a traffic jam.., but for everything else the f430 is a much better car. They say that there are 2 problems with M6, the weight (altough fiber carbon roof) and the brakes, directly relationed.
Beside these, the 430 dynamics are perfect, the balance, the suspension, the brakes but fundamentaly the difference of weight of the cars make the comparisson difficult to make beside the highway or in hard traffic. In the highway u can go as fast or more with the 430 but u really have to be more concentrate. Your joy is superior but your effort in the same proportion.

It's not an attitude, it's a fact. LOL. The M6 is ugly, bloated, without symmetry or style, a complete absence of creativity, to be precise.

To be fair, it is dynamically superb and very capable, a source of pride for engineers to be sure.

Thus, I don't have any feelings about the M6, let alone hate. I have an aesthetic judgement.

I also think it's foolish to spend that amount of money on a car that ugly when there are so many superior alternatives, even within the same marquee.

Of course, some people would call me a fool for planning to spend $450K on a car that can't drive over a speed-bump, or owning several cars that I will drive infrequently but own simply for the pleasure of beholding them. Of course, these all will wear the black horse on their hoods.

I have owned both. The F430 is much faster than the M5 in any situation. No question about it. However, the chap who thinks the E55 can hold on to an M5 must be a master driver and the guy driving the M5 a novice. I have also owned an E55 and know the difference. The M5 is considerably quicker than an E55 on any kind of twisty road. Perhaps the E55 in a straight line can still see the M5 for a little while but it will be all over above triple digit speeds as the M engages the higher and 7th gear. As for the M6 - seriously pointles - no faster than the M5, less space, not much prettier, and 25% more expensive. A great combination would be F430 as the fun car and M5 as a daily driver.

If you want all the fun, there is nothing like a Ferrari, and among todays Ferraris, the F430 is the pick of the bunch. At least until the 600 Imola arrives.
