I've been contemplating trading in for 458 Italia Coupe . The local Ferrari dealer told me the F430 prices based on recent wholesale auctions in California have taken somewhat of a nosedive. I don't know if that's a ploy to get me to commit to a higher price for the 458 or if it's fact. My car is an 2005 F430 F1 with 17000 miles and 6weeks ago he was gonna give me around 100k now closer to 85k.

Prices for 458s are coming down as well. I'd do more research and blkdiabol33 says try selling it yourself.

Thanks for input good info ttforcefed I may try to sell myself the 458 I was looking at has almost as many miles as my car and doesn't appear as babied!
My car is 2owner with new Pilot supersports and new Interstate AMG battery plus no stories! Seems like would be easy to sell but never tried to sell an exotic car before.

That seems like a fair (or more than fair) deal (and you avoid selling your 430, selling a ferrari these days - for most models, and certainly for a first year 430 with 17k miles and F1 - can take a long, long time).

In many states, you will also save on sales tax, paying only on the $107K vs the entire $190K, so factor that in as well, if it applies.

hmmm interesting. I recently asked around and the dealer is giving me 110k for my 07 spider with 12k miles, pretty well optioned car with carbon brakes, new clear bra and ceramic coating. I find it a bit low but that's expected for trade in i guess

Wow, that's crazy. All the dealers I contacted within a few hundred miles of me were giving me wholesale prices or worse. One went as far as to tell me I would never get what I wanted for my car if I tried to sell it myself, but I essentially got what I was looking for.

100k would be decent for trade in. 85 still is not bad considering tax benefits

found a data point to suggest that $85k is a fair trade-in/wholesale offer...$100k is a decent retail sale price these days, 15% in back of that is as good as one can hope for on trade-in. (unless unknowingly over-paying for the new car).

...here is a car that has been on F-chat for ~5 months and is now asking $105k. And $105k is a private party asking price. Even a retail sale price around there would be less 5-10% selling costs (my local dealer has an 8% consignment fee for example), so netting the seller even less.

Run to take $85k trade-in if you like the 458 and its price.

And, also supporting $85k trade in on the OP's car, this one which is a much more valuable car, got $110k trade-in:

    2 years newer + something
    Spider +10k at least
30% lower mileage +$10k at least
    Carbon brakes + something
